Probably because it's not an actual CW production. It's a DC Universe Original just like Doom Patrol and Titans (Hence the better looking costumes compared to the Legends of Tomorrow's JSA), the only difference is that it's aimed at a younger audience which is probably why they're also airing it on the CW.

Why do you think they didn't bring back the actors who played the previous JSA? The didn't even bring back Manu Bennett for Deathstroke on Titans, why would anyone expect them to bring in JWS for Jay Garrick in this show?

I'd imagine if this show gets a season 2 which I'm going to guess....they will for reasons but crossovers and what not will come in the 2nd season.

"Now there's a chance for even more eyes to see the show because it will air on both DC Universe and the CW, which Johns is pretty excited about even if it means cutting about 10 minutes out of the first two episodes to accommodate the network's commercials (DC Universe will stream the full-length episodes). "We had to lift some scenes out of 1 and 2. It was painful to do, but I was thrilled it was going to be on broadcast as well as streaming," he says."

well that sucks.

First episode was pretty decent overall. Definitely digging the vibrant, comic booky vibes the show gives off so far.

And this was easily my favorite shot from the episode:

I was gonna say, I would love a proper JSA show, but good lord, not on the CW Network.

You know what would be aaaaaaawesome? If they adapted "The Golden Age", that Prestige Format JSA mini-series from 1992 or whenever. That book was incredible.

Although what with all the violence and murder and cocaine and Hitler, yeah, that would definitely have to be an HBO Max project. Such an amazing JSA story, though. I think I was kinda "eh" about the JSA as a kid, until I read that book and it totally blew me away.

Think I'll go dig that one out this week at some point. Long overdue for a re-read.

What a piece of trash. Wow.

I've already instructed my family, if I die in some weird accident, don't pay tribute to me by writing a show that has NOTHING TO DO WITH ME AT ALL, and pretend that it does. The guy has no shame.

Garbage. Stupid waste of money.

To each their own, I suppose.

It's acllous as hell, if you ask me. Worse, the show is really dumb. It doesn't have any internal logic.

That's a matter of opinion.

It's obviously drawing inspiration and influence from Geoff's Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. and JSA runs. And it's likely we'll be seeing tibits of Robinson's Starman since he's involved with the show's production.

It really isn't, honestly. It's called paying tribute.

You two are making a bigger issue out of this than it really is about a fictional character that's existed for 21 years.

Moving on...

Tribute? Please explain. I'd say it's mockery, at best. Self serving acts are not tributes to others.

Narcissism, thy name is Geoff Johns.

The easter egg wasn't even Johns idea. It was the show's prop master who thought it up and brought it to him.

You guys about 21 years too late to be complaining about this sort of thing for Stargirl. You know how many creators across Marvel and DC have done this exact sort of thing Johns is doing now over the years? When did it suddenly become wrong? Literally every other DC fansite I've seen has talked about how neat this was.

I agree, his sister meant a lot to him and inspired this character. I get some of you here can't stand the guy, why I'll never know or accept, but leave him alone already. If you don't like his stuff, don't watch or read it.

I'm in the middle on it.

Yes, Geoff Johns is probably his own biggest fan. And I doubt anyone in all of comics has worked harder to make their fanfiction canon than he has.

Yes, I think he's been high on his own sh*t for most of the last 15 years and probably peaked around then as far as anything he's written.

Yes, I think it's pretty tacky how his compulsion to bring his sister into every single conversation about the character borders uncomfortably on necrophilia at times.

BUT, I also think it's long past time that some people put the drum away and go do something else. You can only flog a horse so much until it's glue. Most of the negative about Geoff Johns is true, or likely mostly-true, but how many times can it be said?
