When do you think the next issue of Vol. 4 will come out?
I had forgotten when the last issue came out, and then saw it came out back in 2014 which was issue #32:
https://www.miragelicensing.com/comi...e04/32/32.html This is over 6 years ago now. And before that we got one issue every few years. When do you think we'll get the next issue? |

Considering he didn’t do one for the 35th anniversary in 2019, I doubt he ever will

I wonder what made him decide to stop updating his blogs. His last posts are from 2018, then he disappeared from the web. Our only hope to see vol 4 ending is through Lawson but he needs Laird's notes, if they even exist, so everything is on hold. Maybe a little push from IDW can make the stone roll?

While I’m not in a preachy mood about it, I’m fairly certain we won’t get any more of Laird’s involvement, sadly. So his blog has been inactive as well? Admittedly I haven’t followed it due to various goings-on (also part of my lack of activity here), but that’s still good to know.

Remember when PL said he knew how Vol. 4 was going to end and said he would conclude it in about 6 issues or so....and he said that like back in 2013 or something...

Strange he also abandoned his regular blog. He probably thought there wasn't much interest in his pottery but given the political climate of the last few years it's surprising he resisted the urge to publicly comment on it. |

Lawson won't do that. He isn't interested.

Although it's interesting that he's said that in hindsight he regrets April's origin. He also said he changed his mind about the resolution, he originally envisioned an apocalyptic ending but then wanted a more open ending even floating the idea of a Vol. 5 with more traditional TMNT stories. (Of course what Laird thinks is traditional TMNT story is probably up for debate) I kinda think he looked back on Vol. 4 and thinks he's written himself into a bit of a hole with the aliens and transformations and all. Even if he has an idea of how to resolve it all he may not be eager to get back into it just to unpack it all. |

I actually really did enjoy Volume 4 and although I haven't read it in a while, it still remains one of my favorite eras or incarnations of the Turtles. Would love to see it finished someday, but as time passes I see it more and more unlikely.

PL is currently 66 years old. Weird I thought he was closer to 70, so maybe give him at least 4 more years?

Yeah, I can't see it happening to be honest.
These days I'd settle for the remaining plot breakdown Laird teased in one of his blog-posts. |

Laird is a great artist, it's a shame he stopped drawing. I mean, how many artworks by him we've seen in the last... 25 years?

He actually did quite a bit up through the sale to Viacom in 2009. It's only the last 10 years where new pieces have been extremely few and far between.

I don't know, he's probably at peace with his life without TMNT. He could always come back whenever he wants but he must feel happy and content knowing that there's nothing pushing of pressuring him back.
It'll be interesting though since the world's changed a bit. Were smartphones and tablets are prominent back then as they are now?

Well, it's not just TMNT. He stopped drawing any kind of subject. He doesn't draw at all as far as we know. I have never understood why Mirage and his artists can't exist without TMNT. Can't they publish stuff with new characters and new stories? Lawson is the only one who keep producing art but he works on his own, without the help of Mirage.

I made my peace with it never happening. I don't want to get my hopes up. Also, he needs more than one issue to finish the story, so even if we get a surprise issue someday, I doubt he'll ever finish the storyline.
