The contrast of light and dark is what made Superman and Batman work. Making Superman dark in the movies already threw things off.

That's one overly-simplified "explanation" of their relationship out of many that exist. It hardly says everything about "why they work", nor does it give either of them enough credit.

It also doesn't account for the fact that they've been paired up in the comics since the 1940s, and yet Batman has only been "the dark one" since the mid-80s. Or that the whole "They're polar opposites!" (false) idea people like to subscribe to is even more recent than that.

Point being, "One is Light, One is Dark" may be easy to digest, but it's an oversimplification. As for what one viewer sees as "brooding", others will see as "Reacting realistically to the situations a character finds themselves in." In any case, the version of Superman appearing in the recent films has already been the standard in comic books for longer than you or I have been alive, so, that makes it valid in my eyes.

This really doesn't belong in this thread; I just have a chip in my head that sets off an alarm whenever people make false or misleading claims about the Superman character. They told me I'd regret it, but eh.

I'm not going to continue this conversation with you here, and my PM box is full, but I wouldn't be averse to speaking with you elsewhere, if you wish. Pretty sure you know where to find me. The caveat being, you actually want to have a serious conversation. Otherwise, I'm too busy.

That's not a bad point, really. Though I'm sure many would rush to point out Batman was shooting criminals dead even in his first issues. I don't think it's unfair to say that, "Batman has always been darker than Superman," even though they're certainly not polar opposites.

They're polar opposites in terms of powers and abilities. Superman just happens to be superhuman and invulnerable because of DNA... Batman spent years training himself and spending untold millions to equip himself to give him an edge.

I'll be interested in a Flash movie when they recast and get rid of Ezra Miller. He's a fine actor, I guess, but I hated his take on the Flash.

Yeah. There's zero reason to get excited about a Flash movie with a Barry Allen who is nothing remotely like Barry Allen... either in appearance or anything else.

At least it gives autistic kids a hero on the spectrum to relate to.

That's not an insult, I'm damned serious. I think that's what Zack Snyder was going for with that.

I love Grant Morrison. But that Ezra himself is telling the media he is writing his own script... means this thing is dead.

I am writing my own script...on a napkin. Surely someday it will be a movie! Just you wait!

Good. Recast. Ezra Miller was a terrible Flash.

Yeah, if they're not even worried about recasting Batman... Flash is fair fu**ing game.

The only ones safe are Gal Godot and Jason Momoa. Batman is used to cast change, Superman to an existent. Good to see DC"s #3 and #4 picking up steam among the general public.

Yeah, this sounds like something I’d love, but I don’t count on it being filmed.

I know there are much less capable people who have worked on the scripts for movies I’ve loved. So as a fan of both Grant Morrison and Ezra Miller’s flash, I think this sounds really cool.
