How "in touch" would you say you are with modern pop culture?
Even though I'm only 27, I must say I'm really out of touch with a lot of things. As in not knowing who certain famous people are, or what they've been up to lately. I guess it's because I don't really keep up to date with movies and tv shows these days and thus don't pay attention to what goes on in the industry. Also, in these days where you no longer have to sit through a one hour daily news show to get all of your news I can just easily go to any news website and ignore 85% of the news articles and just check the ones I'm really interested in.
What about you? |

My pop culture status ended around 2005-2006. I know what popular videogames and some movies/TV shows are, but that's about it.
I'm living 15+ years in the past. The fact that 2008 is now 10 years ago and that was the year Metal Gear Solid 4 and Batman: The Dark Knight came out blows my mind, |

There's always been a lot of trendy things and famous people that I've managed to avoid knowledge of by accident. Maybe because I tend to focused on certain things and also am not the most social guy out there, meaning I don't really hear certain names or about certain things often. I remember saying sometime ago that John Cena was only in the Marine movies or something and Cure telling me "Jesus are you out of touch". I had no idea had been in several movies and done VA for cartoons until then |

I'm pretty in touch, and people who refuse to get out of a certain time period annoy me. I'm always looking forward, never looking back.

The only people I know like that are 50 and older. A ton of middle aged people say they don't see the need to find new things to enjoy since they already have enough things to enjoy themselves already. Also, they tend to think today's music sucks.

****ing please. That used to be the joke back in the day, but now all some young people wanna do is live in their childhood. "My childhood!" remarks are prevalent on and off the internet.
And I see the slight irony in saying "back in the day" for what I'm talking about. |

Not a whole lot these days. Celebrities and whatnot just aren't usually worth the time to me to be bothered with anymore.
It's to the point that some name is mentioned or some person is a guest on a talk show and I'm like, "Who? He/she is supposed to be famous?" lol I just really could not care less anymore. I've got other more important things to focus on. |

See, that's why I f#ck with you, Cure. I feel the same way. It weirds me out when people never try anything new or never even expose themselves to anything unfamiliar.

Yeah, same. Even moreso when people take some weird kind of pride in being out of touch.

I dunno. I was never really in touch a lot with pop culture at anytime, tbh. I know about it nowadays than I did years ago, though. I know the names of modern singers, actors, politicians, etc along with what are the most popular tv shows are at the moment.
