The people who were born during the 2000's decade will enter adulthood within this decade.

Just ... wow.

And the more tragic part of it: They'll never be able to truly "get" John Mellencamp.

Pretty sure every generation was offended by nonsense.

I get the feeling what TigerClaw was getting at was more like how that and Gen Y have "weaponized being offended" or are "offended as a means of sabotage against other people".

I mean c'mon. It takes like.... a level of experience that you acquire in Middle School to see when someone pretends to be offended at something to be standoffish when they don't like someone.

Obviously the one that best embodies their traits: the pampered, autistic crybaby.

Not even necessarily stuff that is/was "okay," since societies have always had messed up crap they need[ed] to stop doing, but more-so the handling of it is different and any small slight is looked at by "these kids today" as if always intentional. Only if someone is purposely being a jerk, or becomes one when corrected or called out, is there any validity whatsoever in being upset over it.

Wrong pronoun? I guess people have forgotten that women have been hearing "he" as a default online and in games forever...and have just corrected it (or didn't bother) and moved on, like it wasn't a big deal.

On the subject of that topic... also the dual lack of self awareness in many of these kids. Fave band does a podcast about every other month. Patreon donors of a particular tier have the opportunity to ask a question for it. For their newest one, some pronoun-concerned younger fan went and made it really obviously super awkward for them by asking what their pronouns are. Gen Z... lean in a little for a sec, kids... If you know who someone is and can safely assume that answer, do not ask this. It suggests that you can't tell what they are (or alternately that you're too dumb to) and that is insulting.

To be clear, I don't care about this "what's your pronouns" identity fad either way and largely ignore it. But good grief some expecting the world to get it right all the time and be as into it as they are as if all revolves around them.

This thread is eight years old ...

Anyway, I wonder how Zoomers will impact internet culture.

Will the internet integrate with our larger society ( i. e. The Metaverse )?

I wonder what technology will develop with Gen-Z.

Holographic comptuters, four-dimensional phones, levitating buses, shrink rays - the possibilities are endless ...

You'd think their first step would be making super-perfect gender reassignment surgery. I'm talking fully-functional uterus, periods and all.

They won’t even leave their parents’ basements. They’ll probably just import what China is making.

I’d be happy to donate my uterus. I’m not using it. I’ll keep the ovaries. Oh give them those periods, headaches, cramps, bloating, fatigue, stomachaches, nausea, water weight, cravings…all that good stuff.

And every single organ, including brain in their body.
Not that those people who want to change their sex via mutilations have a lot of brains to begin with.

Fast way to make smoothy, because, that is all Gen Z can think of.
They creative energy is no the best. After all, what one can expect from generation of spoiled children, who don't believe in anything and constantly cry about "doomed humanity"?
