The Equalizer
Being a fan of the original series, I was interested to see how Denzel Washington would take on the role of Robert McCall.
He was fantastic. I think the film maker's overdid the use of slow motion and there were some crazy scenes where Denzel's eye seemed to make more of an appearance than it should have ... but overall, a great adult film. Violent, gory but rooted in real life (a retired guy being drawn into the action slowly and not suddenly propelled into a situation, that would have been so contrived) Denzel was like a psychotic handyman at parts and I loved the way he made such creative choices for weapons. Working in a hardware store was the ideal setting for the movie's climax and I'm so glad they didn't disappoint. Really, really enjoyed this one.

This movie seriously kicked ass and one of the best r-rated action films in recent memory that harks to the 80s and 90s r-rated action films.

I greatly enjoyed the first one. An everyman gets pissed and single-handedly goes out and dismantles the entire Russian mafia.
In current news... The reboot with the female-led "Equalizer" with Queen Latifah taking over for Denzel has a trailer: https://www.darkhorizons.com/teaser-...the-equalizer/

Part 3 is doing great.
https://www.darkhorizons.com/equaliz...-expectations/ I saw it tonight. I've really enjoyed this series. I think this one is almost about as good as the first, way better than the second. I like that a lot of things I predicted would happen -- to certain characters, specifically -- didn't happen, though I really, really suspect some reshoots and clever editing undid some choices, maybe from test audiences. I mean, I LIKE what they did, but I think the re-edit seams in that show a bit. As with the first, as with stuff like Rambo 4 and Rambo 5, it's a slow buildup of making you really hate the bad guys and then watching them all get torn down by one guy. It's all clearly on location in Italy so these are more interesting locations to look at than, say, the Home Depot from the first one or the bad CGI hurricane stuff from part 2, but I'd still say the third act of the first hasn't been topped.
