You know I still have my really ugly 2014 movie Raphael in its box along with that movie's Shredder too. I'll probably want to pick up this movie's Raphael if I see it in stores I bet given that I like this design way more.

Hard pass on these figures. The turtles are o.k-ish..... but the villains look straight up crappy as Hell. The proportions don't sit well with me and come off too goofy and I know that's the art style but in figure form they look like crap. If people want these great but for me it's also great in that I don't have to hunt these down like say with the Neca line.

[But I also thought they might be priced as high as $13]

Combining the Turtle van with the pizza thrower is an interesting idea. I feel myself being tempted here.

I still like them but they do look a bit cheap in those official shots. Still, I like that $9.99 price tag enough to grab at least one to check it out.
Trailer looks great, too! |

I almost thought that sounded way too late, but then again the Super Mario Bros movie figures just dropped in late February.

After a closer look, I think this might be the best Playmates figures since the 2003 show. I love the 2012 figures but the unpainted weapons were disappointing, this new set of toys have the best of both worlds, the paint details of the 2003 series and the articulation of the 2012 figures. If so, I'm quite surprised!

The figure in the party wagon doesn’t have them on at all.
But upon closer inspection, that MIGHT be Leo…

I think it's their best figure lineup since the 2012 series launch. So, that's pretty good.
While we see Playmates once again recycling most of the same ideas they keep using time and time again anytime they launch a new turtle line... it seems to be working for them so what can ya do. At least these are NEW figures, with new tooling and a different look... i'm so sick of seeing them re-releasing old figures (often with worse paint and accessories than the originals YUCK) that I'm pretty happy with what I see here. The giant turtles look AMAZING this time around. I don't usually buy the giant ones... but it's tempting. |
