Sketches
I do like to hone my style every now and then. Most of these are things I've done in the last 4 years or so. These are some various takes on the Turtles I've tried to emulate:
Inspired by the cover of TMNT First Graphics Novel Book III; I did this one fairly recently. Some of my favorite designs from the Image TMNT run Old Toon Rat King Mirage Shredder From "Turtle Tracks":

Shell of the Vamprie Fish
Thanks, tOkKa, I really appreciate your feedback.
Here's some pages I threw together for a story I had in mind regarding Vampire Fish.... (yeah, I know, too many Joker episodes of Batman: The Animated Series). I was going to try a toon/Mirage hybrid style using the Vampire villian from Volume 1, #29. He poisons the city's water supply and turn all the fish into carries of the vampiric virus. Maybe the whole concept just got too zany for me. But like all my "fan comics" they have no dialogue and remain just isolated pages: Donatello works to find an antidote for the city's water problem. Much to his chagrin, Raph and Mikey are too busying beating a very hard Konami game. The Turtles investigate the sewers and stumble upon a nasty surprise. Leonardo and Raphael are infected! Rescuing April from the Vampire (still working through what I wanted April and the Turtles to look like). The Vampire escapes into the night. April and the Turtles plot to solve the Vamprie outbreak.

Nice stuff! I like the fact that your drawings have a bit of an old toon influence.

The more you go, the bigger a fan I become of it. The second batch are very fun to look at, which is difficult to capture in art (I feel, at least).

Some character sketches:
April is drawn in the "Retro" styles posted on Murph's blog a while back. The Turtle styles are from the "How to Draw TMNT" comic. TMNT appendages Quick sketch in the Dan Berger style. I'm not quite satisfied with that eye on the right (which I guess would make it the Turtles' left eye), though.

The Reporter and the Robot
Here's one of my classic OT reimaginations. This starts out with the familiar "New York's Shiniest" storyline but quickly starts to incorporate some other elements of TMNT lore.
It starts with April sneaking into the police warehouse to check out the Rex-1 robot. These are the very early sketches, still trying to figure out April's appearance. Big Robot fight to come later!

Nice sketches. My personal Faves are the Image Turtle Sketches though. They look really good. I also think you do a good jod with OT April.

Something I threw together last night because I thought it would be neat mix of creepy and humorous!
"Splinter's Worst Nightmare" http://oldmanwinters.deviantart.com/#/d3aoq8r I'm thinking of making this into a short story comic, but time will tell.

Eh, yeah, that's one of my early attempts to try and imitate the Mirage style. Not a great exhibition of artistic prowess on my part, but it certainly was one of my early attempts to relearn how to draw TMNT characters.

April's Day
Happy April 1st!
April's Day by ~oldmanwinters on deviantART Seems like it's become an annual tradition of mine to upload an April O'Neil specific piece on April 1st, though this year I avoid the internet cat memes.

"I fear we are about to join our ancestors!"
My tribute to another classic first season episode:
Special thanks to Ulisses31 for help with straightening some of my background lines!

Great stuff oldmanwinters!
I like how you added the details of having each book have a title, and Michelangelo waiting at the balcony. |
