Pretty sure Carol was always about mid-twenties. She was also a flying ace and prodigy as a pilot. No reason she should have to lose any rank due to age. She just earned it earlier than most.

I wish they went with an older actress, but I'm not upset with the casting.

I'm glad she seems so into the role.

'Mississippi Grind’ Helmers to Direct ‘Captain Marvel’

“Mississippi Grind” Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have been tapped to direct Marvel’s “Captain Marvel,” starring Brie Larson.

Since announcing the Oscar winner would be playing the titular superhero, the studio has taken its time in finding the film’s director. Marvel made it clear they wanted a female guiding the ship on this film’s voyage.

Marvel was not available for comment.

The studio had met with several contenders and sources say the studio not only wanted to make sure that the search was thorough but that the script was in the right shape before tapping who would direct it.

Kevin Feige has an eye for tapping talent that is ready to break out with James Gunn and the Russo Brothers as prime examples and it looks to be the case again with this duo.

The studio was looking for a unique point of view and they are heading into a new era films where they want to grow and change in a certain way that fits that new

Execs met with the duo many times before the studio decided to go with them and time and time agan the pair impressed the studio with what they wanted to do with this character.

The two have the advantage of navigating the TV and film world and Marvel does see that as a strength when it comes to developing and shooting their films.

Best known for their character study dramas like “Half Nelson” and “Mississippi Grind,” Boden and Fleck have spent a lot of time directing episodes for such popular TV shows as “The Affair” and “Billions.”

“Inside Out” scribe Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are currently writing the script, which follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy project, and flight.

Kevin Feige is producing the pic.

They are repped by WME and Management 360.

Marvel just announced that this movie takes place in the 90s and the villain will be the Skrulls.

That's really weird. I guess her powers stop or slow her aging.

Yeah I'm really curious how they connect her to the present day MCU. Something has to take her out of commission after the 90s or she would've been around to help in the Battle of NY.

Skrulls, woot. Guess FOX negotiations do pay off.

I have no care in the world for the comics Danvers [the fault of crap like Civil War II], but I'm very curious about how the MCU will pull her off, especially as she's more no nonsense.

If they have Skrulls, the Fantastic Four can't be far behind.

With the Skrulls showing up, I wonder if we will get to see Super Skrull as well.

Pretty sure Marvel and Fox share the rights to the Skrulls but Fox has Super Skrull. Similar to the Watchers showing up in Guardians 2 but not mentioning Uatu.

I'm hoping this sets up the Secret Invasion storyline for Phase 4.

Maybe they will have a character similar to Super Skrull, but they don't name him, kind of like when we saw Uatu show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, but he wasnt named, but looked kind of like him.

I've been wondering the same. Maybe she gets her powers, fights a secret invasion of skrulls, and then goes to space for a while to do space things and then the end of the movie has her return to earth in present day.

Or since she's premiering in Infinity War maybe the end of her solo movie will tie in to those events

They can't do that. All of the Watchers looked the same in Guardians.

The same can be said about the Skrulls, they all look the same, so there has to be one that's very prominent to the story.
