Really, the point of Mario 64 on the N64 was a training game of sort, to teach people to use the analog stick. I view it on the DS in the same light. It's release is there to teach us how to use the touchscreen for movement.
My only gripe with the touchscreen control? The circle moves. Make it stay put next time Ninty, and it'll be so much better. |

It's not like learning to use the analog stick at all, because the analog stick is a solid form of control. The touch screen isn't. That's obvious when just about every review site/magazine has mentioned it. I've also mastered using the touch screen, it isn't exactly hard to do that, but there are still moments when it seems like the character is completely out of my control. You'll also have to admit that with the touch screen, some actions are a lot more difficult than they should be. Don't take it as bitching, because I'm not bitching, it's still great. There are problems with it. Just because it's a Nintendo product doesn't mean you have to ignore those problems.

See, I really haven't had any problems with it. There were some at the begining, but they're gone now. Just today I was zipping around the first bowser level collecting the 8 red coins with NO problem. Like i said, i think it'd be a lot better if the little circle stayed in one place instead of sliding with your thumb.

Also, if the DS had a stick, it'd probobly last about 1.5 years since those sticks wear out under heavy usage. I'm willing to undergo a learning period to avoid the system wearing out quickly. PSP's will start falling like flies after a year.

I have a habbit of letting my thumb rest on the pad when I'm not pressing it. You can't do that half as well on the PS2's bad, because it's not a pad. It's a group of buttons laid out in a D-Pad shape. It's really distracting when trying to play a side scroller or puzzle game as you can't just slide your finger in any direction. The Cube's D-Pad is a bitch though.
I like the DS's D-Pad because it's a blown up version of the SP's. And the SP's D-Pad was like the best pad ever. That's what the Gamecube's should have been like. Still, you couldn't play anything as fast and frantic as Tetris Attack on a PS2's controller because you'd keep loosing track of where your thumb was supposed to be. It's a bitch of the Gamecube, but at least it's bareable. I miss the N64 D-Pad. Now that was a piece of equipment.

Feel The Magic is pissing me off. I can't get past this nightmare level. And I hate that whenever I die, I have to start all over again and play bull, which is really easy but it takes like...forever.

It was the same here. You just have to do it over and over. THere's no way around it. If it helps, the last two past it are easy as dirt.

Puzzle games would die without the D-Pad, but then again, there havent been may since 1998, and PS2 has few to none. DS is looking to change this.
I actually read somewhere that Sony banned Tetris from the PSP because they don;t want it to look like an underpowered Game Boy. Smart Sony. Ban the game that started thr whole fricking handheld industry. Smart way to bring in older games. ------------- *edit* Here are some overall sales numbers this generation. Take a look. Quote:

It's good to see that the GC versions of "Viewtiful Joe" are outselling the PS2 versions. Unfortunately that game is a total flop around here, together with "Eternal Darkness" probably the worst selling "good" game this generation. |

I love that game... it's about time for me to spend another whole day seeing how many chapters i can get though again.
I might even try being stupid, and choosing the Blue artifact at the begining... The games just too easy when you can heal yourself (sanity and health) with a few quick spells. Then again, I still can't beat the boss in the World War story >_>. |

Damn, I just started playing it and I chose the blue artifact. I had no clue what it does.
BTW, are you saying that you didn't beat the game? Is it that hard? |

XD
You're gonna have a hard time. First time through the game? My advice, restart and choose the green artifact. That makes the monsters aligned to green (Yuloth? I can't remember the gods' names), so they'll sap your sanity instead of life (red artifact) or magic (blue artifact). Essintaly, they put the difficulty selection into the game. Green's easy, Red's normal, and Blue's hard. And parts of it are difficult. The part I'm stuck at, I'm only stuck because I can't figure out how to damage the monster. |

I'll just try it with the blue one till I get stuck. Since I want to see the full ending I have to beat it with all artifacts anyway.

Oh, just life in general. We're trying to buy a house, and the relators are giving us hell. EA just bought the ESPN licence from Sega (for 15 years), thus killing their sports line for good, the drive in my DVD player just kicked (and the PC dosen't look too far behind it), and I gotta go take a driving test, and then the SAT test soon. Just stressed out and stuff.

Have you already watched all episodes of "Samurai Champloo"? There are some terribly funny ones that should cheer you up a little.
