Don't they first have to resolve the legal battle between Golden Harvest and those that worked on the film? Until that's resolved, a petition won't amount to anything. I wouldn't blame a person for trying though.

I'd be very curious to see the signatures on that petition, so I can try and compare/contrast them to the signature of one Greg Weisman, Esq.

Or, if it was an e-petition, check the IP addresses.

If the internet has taught me anything over the years is that spamming e-mail boxes of the people you want to reach out to is way more effective than signing or making petitions online that the higher ups will most likely never read.

I've known cases of rabid fans e-mail spamming a tv network or two in my country insisting they acquire the rights of a certain tv show or two and it worked. That's how older wrestling fans got wrestling back on Portuguese tv in like 2004. They insisted for about 2 years with e-mail spamming and also calling the network's live show where people could call in and ask questions. I guess the higher ups of the network got so tired of it and just acquired the rights to air WWE so that the annoying fans would stop harassing them. And it proved to be a good idea since Raw and SmackDown were two of the most watched shows on that channel and WWE came here in their tours in 2006 for the first time since the early 90s.

Could be just a couple of mere anecdotes, but that's a couple of more successful e-mail spamming cases I know than successful online petitions. So take that as you will.

Probably best asking Shout Factory. Then maybe Arrow will release it over here if they can get it off Medium Rare.

Apparently there's a Director's Cut of this movie (with 20-30 more minutes of footage). I'd love to see that

That’s interesting. I’m guessing since Nickelodeon has the rights, they would be the ones to bug about getting a special edition finally released?

I don’t think petitions do anything these days but do you think if we found the right email address to the right person or department at Nickelodeon, that we could just start posting it to different boards and having lots of us fans bombard them with emails requesting it?

With next year being the 30th anniversary of its release, it seems like it would be the best time to approach it. Do you think that would get any attention or is that just a drop in the bucket? Sometimes you can just listen to the mosquito buzzing by your ear and hope it goes away but sometimes you have to squash it and acknowledge it to make it go away. Maybe we can be a mosquito to them.

I said this before; with the amount of the 1990 movie getting like NECA, Waxwork Studios, and other things to name like references and nods it may be possible but who knows.

I was really hoping at SDCC that some news would pop about them finally releasing a special edition for the 30th anniversary. I just figured it would be the best time to do it. With all the renewed interest and stellar sales from NECA, I’m really surprised they don’t put more effort into making it happen regardless of how many hoops they have to jump through.

I got an update message today by email from that TMNT movie petition via Change.org. They've done quite well. Sign it if you haven't already:

1000 people signed , lets say its 10$ per bluray, so 1000x 10 = ten K bucks of profit, not even counting producing blurays and license... forget it.
