Hey, this is what the thread is for. All problems are to be relayed here.
"Good" and "free" most of the time do not belong in the same sentence. However, I have found that this website has a great virus scanner. It's an online-based scanner and will eliminate any problems you have. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Give it a shot and let me know how it works out. |

Hmmm...that's weird. Try it again later and see if it works. Maybe the server is having problems.

How can I get rid of my AIM account? Is there a way to delete it immediately or should I keep if inactive for a certain period, like 60 days or something?

Once you create an AIM account, you have it for life. Just don't use it, or uninstall AIM.

Bummer. I just can't uninstall it - because it's going to tempt me to install it back!

Strange Pop Up
So I was on deviant art and then went on to a message board then suddenly a strange pop with "Doctor Ringtones" came up and replaced the message board. I went back, but I'm curious to know could that pop up possibly do something to my computer? anyone who's computer savvy answer this question

If that board doesn't usually have popups, your computer might be infected with adware. Try scanning it with an adware removal utility such as Spybot - Search & Destroy to see if anything turns up.

I've also seen "Takeover pop ups" a lot lately. Look at the top of the site to see if there is a "Skip ad" button when it appears.

I currently have a dual monitor setup with 19" Samsung LCD's. I have noticed that during games and stuff that the middle of the screen is right where the edges of the monitors are pushed together. I want to add a 21" monitor to be my main middle monitor, and the smaller ones on each side. Here are my questions: Do I need an additional video card? Do I need additional power? How do I get windows to utilize the third monitor?

I've never even done three monitor setups. I've done two, but never three. From what I understand, it would require another video card, and then I googled this website, and he explains how it works. Chex it out.

Thank you Ai. It helped alot. It took all afternoon, but this is what happened.
I took the video card out of one of my other crappier computers, and plugged it into the extra AGP slot. I plugged in the 21" LCD and put it in between the 2 19" LCD that I had previously. It is super awesome! Power supply hasn't seemed to be a problem yet, but it does get very warm, almost hot, so for now I have the case off, and a mini fan blowing at it. What can I do to cool it down? I have alot of fans and ventilation already, any suggestions?

Power supplies get hot even if the power needed by the computer isn't very high. If you've ever used a laptop, you'll notice that. However, if it gets too hot, then you probably do have too low of wattage for the setup, and you should consider a higher wattage power supply. I use a 600watt in mine, and I haven't had heating problems...yet.

It depends on whether you're using a software bundle/security suite or just a standalone virus scanner. Since you don't see standalone virus scanners too much anymore, my guess is that you probably do have adware protection already built in, so try updating your virus/spyware definitions and doing a full scan of your computer. Then again, it never hurts to have a second opinion, so you may also want to try installing Spybot-S&D.

I'm hoping someone can give me a reason other than "your sound card is ****ed" as to why I'm getting no sound whatsoever, even out of headphones. I looked around and it doesn't seem like anything's muted. Headphones work, too.

Could've gotten the e-herpz and now your sound files are messed up. Did you try reinstalling your sound card drivers? Also, I don't mean to imply that you're dumb (psssst, I do), but some programs where you can control the volume also play with your overall sound on the computer. Did you chex that the volume is up on the Windows volume control?

I did. You're gonna have to tell me how to reinstall my sound card drivers, though.
