I just began Robert Jordans "The Eye of the World" for the second time.
I read WoT back in high school all those years ago, but I never read the last two. Since Mr. Jordan is no longer with us and we won't be getting any more, I figured I'd plow through the whole series again before I got to those.

I'm reading Safe in the City: A Streetwise Guide to Avoid Being Robbed, Raped, Ripped Off, or Run Over by Mark MacYoung and Chris Pfouts (another 'dromer mentioned a different book by these authors, but my library only had this one...don't remember your name, but thanks for the tip!). The first couple of chapters haven't seemed too useful, though it's interesting, but I just started into the chapter on weapons and it's really good. I'm still reading about legalities, and lemme tell you it's quite sad that in a lot of places you can get in trouble with the law for defending your own home in the event of a break in. Totally whack.

Today I read The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. It's a young adult fantasy novel based on the fairy tale of the same name. Great adaptation with a nice plot twist.

Nah, I had no idea. That sounds like something worth checking out though. I really liked the Vaughn Bode comics that Mark Bode later finished up from his notes and sketches, so sometimes that works out. Thanks for the heads up!

Just excavated a couple books from the bowels of my mom's dungeon...er, I mean storage area: Sai: Karate Weapon of Self-Defense and Bo: Karate Weapon of Self-Defense, both by Fumio Demura. Unfortunately I don't know karate so what's the point of advancing to kobudo?

I finished "The Dragon Reborn", 3rd in the WoT series that I've been rereading, but I was unable to locate my copy of Book 4: "The Shadow Rising".
After a day of searching, I gave up and started Isaac Asimov's "The Naked Sun" which I scored in a box of like 25 SF paperbacks from the late 50s through the late 80s for just $7 at my local used bookstore. Excellent read so far, but I'm only 1/4 of the way through. I'm digging a few more classics out of that new/old box and then I'm going to order a new copy of The Shadow Rising. I seem to recall that I may have loaned it to a friend 5 or 6 years ago and never saw it again.

They say if you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it. The same probably holds true for books, too.

Finished "Gotrek and Felix: The First Omnibus" and its sequel. Now I'm taking in some light reading by borrowing "Half-Blood Prince."

Am attempting to read an anthology of short stories by such literary giants as Ray Bradbury, AA Milne, Peter S Beagle, and GK Chesterton, but it's hard to get into some of them. There's even a Woody Allen story included...maybe that'll be good!

Been reading Brighton Beach Memoirs whenever I get the chance and it's really good so far. As a playwright, I can tell Neil Simon had a fun time putting Brighton Beach Memoirs together and I wouldn't mind seeing it performed someday.
Also reading the TPB Batman vs. Two-Face, which is enjoyable so far. I like how it has classic Batman stories as well as modern ones.

Yeah, he's pretty much awesome I remember the movies from the 40's and then heard about the remake coming out in '09 so I decided I needed to read the book again...and it's better than I remembered, which is always a nice surprise
