So Australia leaked that apparently we are to expect a big announcement from Biden for the US and the UN. 5PM EST.

Well considering it literally says whats going on in the article....

"President Joe Biden will announce a new working group with Britain and Australia to share advanced technologies in a thinly veiled bid to counter China, a White House official and a Congressional staffer told POLITICO.

The trio, which will be known by the acronym AUUKUS, will make it easier for the nations to share information and know-how in key technological areas like artificial intelligence, cyber, underwater systems and long-range strike capabilities"

China will probably respond.

Mostly, I'm more curious who sat there deciding which order of the abbreviations sound better. lol AUUKUS sounds like some outpost on a little-developed planet in a sci-fi movie...

Also kinda sounds like the only ramifications was unnecessary stress from assuming it was going to be something scary.

Mutually beneficial team-ups with strong allies... Sounds like a safe deal. Though I'm surprised they'd even want to make it public if it's intended to counter China. Wouldn't it have made more sense to not, you now, just indirectly tell China about it?

We shouldn't need other nations to compete with China. This is just another globalization measure. We should be attracting the top scientists from other nations to come here and we should be outperforming China, regardless of their nanoconductor deposits.
