Which usually provides the producer move creative control than the director if he/she wants to.But I'll stop another big argument starting out by saying Bay may not have decide to have control. But I am saying he got himself TMNT based on money not because he loves the franchise.

That and Platinum Dunes hasn't made a single good movie yet.

Michael Bay, hey? I've been away from these boards too long.
I reserve my judgment for now and am actually quite excited to see what will become of it... including the explosions, unintentionally hilarious dialogue and unsubtle eye candy. As has already been said, could it really be worse than pt 2, 3 & 4? |

Glad someone else is getting it. And I hope that means we are getting a PG-13 movie! Dark, gritty, and violent!

I am so amused that people thought this was actually going to be a good movie until they head Michael Bay was involved and now it's the end of the world. Really, what about any of the other names attached to the project gave you such high hopes that Michael Bay destroys all of them?

You can drive yourself crazy asking questions like that. My suggestion is to just sit and grin.

I don't think I'll see this movie, Michael is one of the reasons why I probably won't see this movie.

with the PD track record in mind, i'm not holding out any hope for it. platinum dunes produces quick, low-cost, empty, forgetful, mediocre, throwaway reboots of old properties. they go off of name recognition... NOT quality. expect cheap talent, cheap directors, quick turnaround, and a modest marketing budget to push for a decent opening weekend.
the film will probably look really nice, though. their crews usually dish out cool and stylized production design/cinematography. just don't go in expecting a quality film. with that being said, i will gladly eat crow if the film turns out good. such a shame michel gondry sold out for GREEN HORNET instead of this... |

You won't see this movie because they won't let you into a PG-13 flick. |

This movie is officially off my list. Michael Bay sucks my balls. I've hated every movie he's ever laid a finger on. No thanks.

None of us are saying the movie won't be terrible. In fact, I'm fully ready for it to be every bit the steaming pile of tripe the Transformers films were (which I say as both a fan of the franchise and decent movies in general). However, the potential for other marketing here is huge. If this is even a remotely blockbuster event, and Bay's name bodes well for it, you can expect comic spin-offs, a new awareness of non-kiddy TMNT, other media, etc. The actual movie will be the worst part of this deal. The HUGE silver lining is the level of attention and ancillary media this will create. Endure a sh*tty movie, reap other benefits. That's why everyone considers this a positive development. Quote:
And, as everyone's been saying, the non-movie plus sides of this should outweigh the terribleness of the movie itself. |

Just as long as he has no major creative input in the movie, I have no problems with him co-producing the movie. Hopefully the movie doesn't slide into the garbage bin with Paramount's other 80's fad movies, Transformers and G.I. Joe.
