Reptile looks pretty good. I was hoping he'd finally get a human default again in this one, but I guess not :/

Still waiting on Liu Kang!

I'll wait for the Komplete edition. I hope a lot of old MK characters will be in the roster, I'm not a big fan of the new characters I have see yet, maybe the characters design.
I hope they will keep the entire cast of the last MK but I'm sure they won't. At least I hope that all the "ninjas" will be in.

I have no choice but to skip or upgrade. They don't offer a physical Kollector's Edition for anything I own and I sure as hell am not gonna pay $90 for a digital game.

wait a year for the Komplete Edition that will have all the DLC on disc. They did it with Injustice and the previous Mortal Kombat game.

I don 't know for a fact, but I think you get the season pass by buying any of the premium editions. It says it comes with the kombat pass which includes classic and guest characters. So either they're a timed "freebie" for those editions or it's the season pass for real dlc characters later.

I shelled out for the Amazon exclusive one. That Scorpion statue is pretty sick. I'd go as far to say that it's disgusting. I like the standard collector's edition, but I don't really like that version of Scorpion. He looks like Batman from the animated series.

Every time I see someone say this, I wonder what would happen if too many people decided this, and the game performed so poorly that they didn't release a Komplete Edition.

I mean it's statistically unlikely to happen... but this is just a "what if".

Good point ! Yes but we know that a lot of people will buy it before the release of the Komplete editon. MK9 Komplete Edition was released 9 months later so I guess MKX Komplete Edition will be released in january 2016.

you always have to worry about this with fighting franchises like this. Besides Tekken. But avid fans will buy it right up. It's just way more cost effective to wait for a game with all the DLC. Like I did with the last MK and with Injustice: Gods among us. I'm not saying I'm not an avid fan, just that I'm not made of money lol

So, the story of MK9 basically told us this "reboot" happened because the earthrealm warriors failed to prevent the events of Armageddon which was in part the "ending" of the 3D games story that started in 4. The ending of MK9 also hinted at the MK4 and later storyline but this seems to be going a totally different direction. I hope some elements of the MK4-A storyline are touched upon. The story looks super cheesy but it's MK so that's not necessarily bad, but we'll see MK9 was interesting since it "adapted" MK1-3 but now we're going into new territory and we'll see if they'll be able to compel people with it or alienate many like they did post MK3.

Well, I guess you could pose the same question as to why don't people wait when $60 games get to 40 or lower sometimes weeks after launch. People like to play things Day 1, similar to why you watch a movie on theaters instead of waiting for it to air on TV for free. You have the hardcore and the more casual gamers, those who are hardcore will pony up a lot of cash the first day and the others weren't going to pick it up anyway until it was cheaper. I do think this current model game companies have can't last forever and the people buying Day one will be the minority. What would happen? I think it would be good for consumers eventually. I mean we might not get GOTY editions anymore because of low sales for a few games but it would also mean that developers/publishers would learn they can't do such BS moves anymore and games would be cheaper at launch of DLC would be given for free for early adopters or something.

Not really. If you read MKX comic book there is constant mentions of Netherrealm War, which seems to be an adaption of MK4 in the new timeline.

Considering that MKX built upon on MK9 gameplay and ideas, I don't think it will alieante anybody. Well, maybe except for the couple fanboys obsessed with the past, but its not really a big loss.
