There are still some rare commercials that Dromers have not seen in years like the Rock ‘N Rollin’ Turtles. I have yet to find the commercial for the Ninja Action Turtles from late ‘93 on YouTube, Dailymotion, or sites like that.

I think a part of the Ninja Action TMNT commercial appeared in VH1’s I Love Toys special from 2006, but I cannot find any clips online from I Love Toys. In the commercial, either Somersault Samurai Leo or Black Belt Boxer Michelangelo knocked an ‘88 Foot Soldier into a pile of ‘88 Foot Soldiers. That’s all I remember before the four Ninja Action TMNT figures are seen on the screen. TMNT was the best action figure line of the 1990s.

Mutant Military! Some of my favorite variants for sure.

Also, this maybe be a false memory, but I could swear that these figures were either featured on the evening national news or in some segment on the national news when they came out, or that then-President Bush saw them or was presented with them or commented on them.

Fair warning, I was 9 at the time, so I'll concede that my memory could be wrong on this. But does it sound familiar to anyone else?

Since the Mutant Military toys are from 1991, it’s plausible to surmise that President George HW Bush was informed about those action figures. ‘91 was the year of the Gulf War, so I could see President Bush being presented with the Mutant Military variants.

The Storage Shell and Headdroppin’ Turtles were the best sub-waves of the original Playmates toyline. I was glad to see Playmates reuse the toy concepts for the 2k12 line. I like the Ninja Action Turtles also, but they are out of scale with the 4.5 inch figures.

Everything from the live-action movie toy era (1991-1997) was amazing. It’s really too bad there wasn’t a Giant-Size Super Shredder to go with the 1991 figure, Euro version, Chef Boyardee variant, Stretch, and Mini Mutants toys.
