Did anyone prefer the Mondo figures to the Neca Mirage figures?

I thought Neca did a great job with the paint and sculpt on those Mirage figures. Maybe Mondo looks better in person, but it's hard to say.

I prefer the NECA Mirage in almost every way. I do think Mondo outperformed when it comes to the variety of accessories though. Some of the extras were very cool.

Good point. I haven't yet bought a Mondo TMNT figure, because I keep thinking that I prefer the Neca sculpt, but then I see the awesome accessories, like the mask-less head sculpt or the laser blaster and feel compelled.

They're very different figures. The Neca's depict the turtles in their early appearances (Mirage vol 1 #1-3 issues), the Mondo's show the turtles with their more standardized Eastman and Laird's look.

They were out of scale with other 1/6th figures. That was a huge mistake.
should have been 9 inches, not 10.5-11.

Bigger is not better in this case.

I prefer how the mondo figures looked, and is that I would buy ifbi had the money to buy one. I do wish they would do a smaller scale like neca did with there's.

NECA and Playmates holds the license for the smaller scale. I'm pretty happy with my NECA and Playmates turtles so far.
If MONDO made 6" figures they would be $100 each plus shipping.

I always had a soft spot for this line because, until Super7 came along, they came the closest to replicating that vintage toy look with the different shades of green, and all the accessories they came with were a nice bonus. However, after I actually got them in hand, I was pretty disappointed because they are essentially scaled up 6" figures, and fairly lacking in poseability and play value. Still though, the Casey and Shredder they had lined up looked interesting, and it would have been nice to see the line continue just to have a greater variety of product out there, but given the relatively lackluster reception the turtles got it's understandable why they cut bait.

Any new news on this line? Still hoping for a Casey, foot, and Shredder to go with my turtles.

Good question. I havent heard from MONDO on here in ages. If you go back far enough you can directly contact the employee that posted here.

He doesn’t work for mondo anymore and has no info on them unfortunately.
I wouldn’t hold your breath on these. Sadly.

That’s too bad. I recently picked up the DreamEX Casey to go with my Mondo turtles but those Mondo protypes for Casey, Shredder and the foot were really nice looking. Here’s to hoping.

Its kinda been slow. Considering the Mondo 12 inches figures shouldnt be hard to make.
Perhaps they are redeveloping the line or finding a better factory to up their game?

Wonder what this could end up being?

EDIT:

Ahh, just noticed the Soft Vinyl at the bottom right corner.

Have really been hoping for a 1/6 scale cartoon figure collection. Fingers crossed!

Are these the bulky, wide stylized figures they showed a few months ago?

Yes, they showed Leo & Mike at some event a while back. The sculpts are decent but I think I'd only get them if they really won me over with a funky colorway. Which, going by the trend in their Godzilla soft vinyl, may well happen. A glowie or translucent variant is all I need.

Here's a look at what these might be, if they're the same as the figures Mondo showed a while back:

With nearly 70 (?) different brands tackling the TMNT license, I'm surprised that there's a scarcity of toon-accurate figures.

To date, there's really been two brands that got it right, NECA with their TID and Pizza Club figures, and S.H Figuarts. However, they aren't perfect and there is room for improvement. Mondo definitely has the talent to make it happen but it seems that they are doing their own thing kind of like Mezco and Bulkyz. Herocross also made an honest attempt but they don't count due to the Chibi proportions.
