Approaching 89 he lived a long life and was such an interesting personality in front of the camera for decades. I did not know he had been ill however. I was hoping to see him in the hot seat on the limited Millionaire edition Kimmel oversaw a couple of months ago, but the tease did not come to pass. He gave it his all from 50's until his retirement in the Fall of 2011.

A much beloved television icon I've seen all my life, was so optimistic, interesting, and full of life/energy. His lifetime achievements will always be remembered fondly, and glad he got to have such a good long life. Enjoy heaven Regis Philbin.

I always got to watch Regis on "Live" during the summer months when I was out of school. I always liked his personality. He always shared his opinions on what he liked or what happened to give him trouble the night before. And in that way he always came across to me as an "every man" which I appreciated. Whether he talked about sports, a restaurant, Dean Martin, the news, or his wife Joy, I was all ears. And then of course I watched "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" with all of my family members. Besides huge sporting events, that felt like the last time the whole country was watching the same thing at the same time. That time period of that game show was really fun too. I will always remember great times when watching Regis Philbin.

I never really watched Live with Regis. Only occasionally depending on the guest. Did watch Millionaire though, with the family too and of course saw him on other things.
Seems like a lot of celebrities have passed away recently.
