Krang's enlargement chip

When Krang asks Shredder to install the enlargement chip in Krang's android body in "Shredder and Splintered" (Fred Wolf series and Archie comics), it allows the robot to grow.

Something that always fascinated me is:

Why the heck does even Krang grow? The turtles are inside it in "Divide and Conquer", and they don't change sizes. I know it would probably look silly with a small Krang inside, but has it something with the Frankenstein-like scenes to do?

My explanation would be that Krang was inside the body when it was being enlarged, while the turtles weren't so they didn't grow or shrink. Dregg, on the other hand, when he was grabbed by Krang's body, also shrunk as it shrunk.

Interestingly, Krang's voice also changes by becoming deeper, opposite of how characters get higher voices when they shrink.

Shredder could've done more than blow up the Channel Six building. I don't mean as far as murdering Splinter, but think of the possibilities if censors were not an issue.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

In both episodes Shredder & Splintered as well as in Divide and Conquer the turtles didn't grow/expand because they were just inside of Krang's android body. Krang wasn't merely inside of his android body, he was at one with the body.

Spoiler:
If you want an actual explaination, it's aliens. The answer when comes to Krang doing weird stuff is always aliens. Because he's an alien doing weird stuff.

It's just one of those silly cartoon things you shouldn't think to much about. I'm willing to look past it, personally.

Cartoon logic is often discombobulated. Maybe it was due to the rays that Krang was exposed to while he was sitting within the cockpit of the robot.

Otherwise, I'm going to guess that the confusion was caused by different writers for both episodes. Each person had different ideas as to how character enlargement was to be handled.

Pretty much this. Krang was IN the body while it was enlarging, and not just in the body, but in the COCKPIT, as it were. He was driving the thing. So of course he would grow with it, probably due to the same molecular amplification that made it grow- ie, he was subject to whatever rays, force, or whatever allowed it to grow. The turtles and Dregg- weren't.

At one with, in the sense that he's the pilot, certainly.
