According to the playmates toy catalog there are still some missing tmnt old toy commercials like:

Munta Military series 2
Cave Turtles
Rock n Rollin Turtles
Mutations vehicles (like Muta raft)
Sewer Sub/Turtle Tank
Channel 6 Newsvan
Turtlemobile
Sewer Sports balls
Don´s Carnival Car


If anyone remember or got any of these ones, please try to upload them.

Mutant Military series 2 (doesn’t exist, neither did one for the first series)
Cave Turtles (doesn’t exist, but it should have been during the JP movie era)
Rock n Rollin Turtles (doesn’t exist, Playmates only advertised the Sewer Sports TMNT and Talkin’ Turtles that fall, IIRC)
Sewer Sub/Turtle Tank (don’t believe so)
Channel 6 Newsvan (I believe the Channel 6 News Van was a TRU exclusive and exclusives weren’t advertised)
Turtlemobile (doesn’t exist)
Sewer Sports balls (doesn’t exist as they were tie-ins to the 1991 sub-wave)
Don´s Carnival Car (doesn’t exist)

The late 1993 Ninja Action TMNT commercial looks to be one of the rarest commercials for the original Playmates toy line.

The 6th basic wave (Dirtbag wave) and 8th basic wave (Anthrax wave) were the only basic wave figures in commercials during the ‘Millennial split’ era of TMNT (1991-1993). I call it ‘Millennial split’ because children of the 90s started getting into TMNT in early 1991 with the disguised turtles. Many children of the 1980s did not like the TMNT sub-waves sold from 1991 to 1997.

The first ever TMNT toy commercial of the 1990s. Ignore the 1989 part in the title of the video. The YouTube user did not see the small copyright date of 1990 to the left of the 1985 Mirage Studios copyright under Playmates Toys, so the YouTube user made up the date of 1989 because of the 3rd wave (Metalhead wave) figures seen in the commercial before the now part of the commercial.

There was a Playmates Toys print ad for the first 2 or 3 basic waves and 1st series of the Wacky Action TMNT sub-wave original TMNT in late 1989 or early 1990 (probably 1990) that bashed the Hasbro G.I. Joe ARAH toy line. I can’t find it online, but it should be out there somewhere. It’s a group shot of every figure made in 1988 and 1989.

The first movie, of course, did more to sell the toys than anything before that point. Still, it was interesting to see a TMNT ad similar to the MOTU ad that bashed the original Kenner Star Wars line.

Clips from the fall of 1993 Ninja Action TMNT commercial is in the 3rd season episode for The Toys That Made Us. The first image that appears is that of a pile of 1988 Foot Soldiers. The second image appears when “backflip turtles” is mentioned. The second image is of a child actor pushing down on the shell of Somersault Samurai Leo and Somersault Samurai Leo doing a 360 in midair and kicking Foot Soldiers with its flip.

I haven’t seen that commercial since it aired around September or October of 1993.
