Forgive my ignorance, do we know yet who the planned artists are for the run up to 100? I know an artist will usually get a 3/4/5 comic run on a smaller part of an arc.
Just wondering if anything's been announced or do we only find out on these solicitation announcements?

I only brought up the Ma'rell death alternative with Chr'ell taking control of Burnow Island as a distraction from the long inevitable I dont want, Slash's death. I campaigned from issue #1 to have him in this series and wanted something more that what seemed like a wasted sacrifice in Archie. Yet I am feeling a deja vu from childhood here especially since he is just Agent Bishop's puppet. He had the incredible development with the ooze in #35 and lost himself in #67. The irony is the turtle in The Grapes of Wrath fights off adversity and never loses his will. However, Slash cannot fight off adversity, loses his will, and likely dies when it returns.

Good catch. I didn't even think of that, I went off the fact that a June release date would leave another five months open for one last mini before #100. I firmly believe there will be one, but who knows... Could just as easily be four issues.

Given the way this story goes, if Slash dies, it won't go to waste; major deaths never do in this run. In fact, they push things to new heights. Things with the Mutanimals and turtles could only get more interesting from here. I totally get you though, I felt numb for a good few days after #75 .
(I do think Ch'rell taking over Burnow Island is inevitable, but it would be more of a situation of pushing Ma'riell aside, knowing she'd have know way to fight back against him. And maybe exploiting her guilt from keeping him in extended stasis.)

When they annouce the upcoming city at war story arc, I immediately though that maybe Slash would fill the role of Splinter (near-death experience) or Casey (self-centered voyage after killing innocents) from Mirage. A parallel story line with Slash dealing with his recent and past trauma would be a great fit for this arc.
Maybe everyone will think that he is dead, but he will be lost somewhere (the ocean, under ruins...). He could be save by Leatherhead who could be a wicked mentor in his recovery. Maybe the dead character could be a Mutanimal, but kill by Slash just before regaining control of himself. I have still hope for a Slash and Leatherhead vs Bebop and Rocksteady issue. |
