But as time moved on death claimed the land. It is said that Mikey finally lost it when the four children died.

Nah, it takes place in 2090. Mutant Apocalypse is round about 2066.

And Mikey looks way older and is missing his hair. You could attribute his insanity to being alone for so many years, but he kinda got it back together as society was rebuilt.

I figured it (edit: the wig) was fake. (Trying to look like an old hippie or something.) And...Raph's facial hair. For whatever random reasons they decide to wear these things. (edit: Are we sure Raph's beard was real? That was so weird.)

Depressed and sad is what I felt after watching it since that's how I interpreted it. Felt a bit unnerving too, especially when they showed Casey's skull.

After watching it last night, I realized Leo had his old swords. That right there tells me it was a flashback. At least that's how I see it now. Before I was thinking something so much worse.

It's a rock quarry surrounding a body of water, plain & simple. It's a real place, in Bloomington, Indiana, & the shot itself was based on one in the 1979 film Breaking Away.
