The first two heads (painted and unpainted) will go up on ebay. This will help me decide a fair price for them, whatever it may be. Then I can simply take inquiries directly, through any hub or forum I'm using. This will only be for a limited time though, as I don't intend to make bank on these.
I'll be posting a link here when they become available. You can also follow me on instagram if you wish, since I make updates there too. https://www.instagram.com/artist_nar/ Thanks |

The mold was successful. Much better than my first attempt. A little tricky when combining the peg hole impression from a factory head and bonding it to one of the two-part silicone molds. I managed to cast a few heads and it was nice not having to do any heavy clean up work, besides shaving off air gates and pour spouts.
Raph is getting worked on some more and hope to have that done by the end of next week. Here's a couple of pics I took, which I added some color tinting via Photoshop, to help give me an idea of how it may look, once it's painted. Still a ways to go, but it's coming along. I'm using all my screen grabs and reference pics to help me get it right. Hope you guys like it.. so far. Have a great weekend shell brains! |

Thanks for the kind words buddy. I'll definitely keep this topic updated as I continue on. I'm glad you like the work. It's been a fun and a very educational journey.

I guess you can count me in as well, as an oversea-er, assuming all 4 won't be finished so quickly right?

Thanks guys, I'm really glad you like them. As part of my ongoing pursuit for "reasonable accuracy", I'm also going to re-sculpt the hands and feet, as well as the plastron, which may be cast in a very soft pre-tinted resin plastic. I feel like the plastron pieces on these toys, make the turtles look a bit rounded in the mid section. They're also slightly wider than they should be. The very last thing I will do with these, is re-do their weapons, to match the screen used props, as well as whole new belts to properly store them in.
On Donny, his Bo holster is in the wrong position. It should be sitting on the back end of the shoulder strap at an angle. Same with Raph's sai holsters. They need to be curved a bit so they steer clear from his upper thighs. I can't give specifics on when what will be done, considering this is a side hobby I'm playing with in between my actual job, but I'm gunning for one new head sculpt per month. Raph is nearly complete now. My next piece will be Leonardo, then Mikey, etc. |

I'm going to try to do a poor man's version using Crayola Model magic. I scored a Secret of the Ooze Classics Donatello on eBay for $15 shipped.

Hey, only just seen this thread. Your work is fantastic and I may well be in for 1 or all 4 of these heads too! Only thing is i'd then obviously have to purchase the actual playmates figures, of which I don't have any.
The NECA 1/4 figures are great and look amazing, but I'm a traditional action figure kind of guy (size-wise). I may get Leo if I can get hold of him (UK based), but these heads you are doing really fill a gaping void in the TMNT line. Great work, can't wait to see all 4 finished heads!

Thanks guys.
I am now combing through my Don casts, making sure they're clean of pin holes and any heavy seam lines. Thankfully, most of them turned out perfectly fine, but some may need a bit of cleaning up. I decided to go ahead and prime them all up for painting. They'll be ready to paint, right out of their packs. Only a few, will be hand painted by me. Cleaning up Raph a bit more before finalizing and adding any texture. Needs more wrench time to get it right. I'm taking a break for one week and will resume back to work in April. I have an anniversary to celebrate on Monday, so I'll be preparing for that this week. Thank you so much for the support, friends. I'll continue to give it my very best, for each following turtle. Your work is inspiring. I've commissioned a sculptor to do heads based on the turtles from all three movies, he may also do Samurai helmets made out of real metal.
