TMNT Time Travel Novels (2019)

Looks like there's a series of time travel novels coming out.

Quote:
"Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles journey through time in this all-new middle-grade novel series."
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Teenage-Mut...dp/0399553150/

Release date for the first book (128 pages) is January 1 2019, author is Derek Fridolfs.

I can only assume it will be based on the upcoming Rise of the TMNT animated series. If it's based on the 2012 Nickelodeon series it will probably get cancelled.

Hardcover novel? Excited.
8-12 years old, 128 pages? No longer excited.

I dunno, sometimes a short, easy read is nice now and then (imo), unless the writing it just too juvenile.

Will be interested to see what this tuns out to be. Assuming you're right that it will be 'Rise' based. Though that's surprisingly quick for a junior novel to come out in that case.

It's definitely going to be based on Rise of the TMNT since these novels come out in 2019.

That was pretty much me Okay still a little curious but it sounded better before the description

I dunno, the Skullduggery Pleasant books were rated 9+ ...and I stopped reading those in the middle of one of them because things got dark and violent really fast. Like...14+ violent.

lol

Romance novels? Sure... Just make sure it's part of the time travel series and takes place in some romanticized Victorian era setting, because why the hell not.

On the upside though, if the writing is tolerable to older fans, at least with a book you can mentally make it whatever version of the TMNT you want it to be. (And preferably not chock full of illustrations to remind you that it's 'Rise' or whatever, unless the designs are better than expected and not a hindrance.)

In all seriousness, I'd love a series of TMNT "Choose Your Own Adventure" illustrated books. Could be a lot of potential in some crazy stories and multiple outcomes.

The only thing with it being based on Rise is that Raph leading, otherwise as others have said, imagining your own could work.
Just curious, what's the target age for the comics? does it depend on which comic? (sorry to go slightly off topic)

I wouldn't so easily dismiss the books. They could be pretty imaginative and fun.

I'm glad others will like them.

But it's continuing the trend of marketing TMNT towards kids, and not trying to break into any other age demographics. Why not pattern a TMNT novel after something more along the lines of:

The Hunger Games
The Maze Runner
Six of Crows

Rise of the TMNT is a Nickelodeon series

We actually discussed TMNT novels at, who aren't short children's storybooks adapting episodes and comics (and of course not fanfiction), at this community in mid–2017 since some other franchises have that. Maybe we weill get that now.

I list the first two so that people will have a frame of reference.

I list the third because it's the only one I like. Read it and you tell me if it's "imaginative and fun" or not...
