Horror Stories…About Chuck E Cheese

Personally, I’ve had nothing but good experiences at Chuck E Cheese. As a kid, I thought it was one of the funnest places on Earth. My parents told me after I grew up that they didn’t exactly feel the same way, and as an adult, I can understand that.

What about the rest of you? Have any of you had a bad experience at the pizza place where a kid can be a kid?

Here are some stories from other people on Reddit:

someguysomewhere81:
"Hey, Sir, someone left a whole bunch of brownies in the sky crawl." They weren't brownies...

m0317k5:
Former employee, 6~ months in high school.

A family racked up a ~$300 bill and tried to pay for it with food stamps.

Two families got into a fight during their kids birthday party and had to be escorted by the police out. I later found one of their weaves on the table.

I got kicked in the crotch while in the Chuck E. suit... I’m a girl, and it still hurt.

A little girl asked me when the “real” Chuck E. was gonna come out because I was “too short” to be the real Chuck E.

A mom wanted to show her kid that under the costume, it was just a real person and asked if I would take off Chuck E.’s head to show her daughter. I did, and the kid got even more freaked out thinking that the mouse had engulfed me.

I’ve repressed a lot of the memories. But this is what I can remember.

SunfireCape2g:
I was the technician at a Chuck E. Cheese in high school. One day i was covering someone and I had to wear the suit and do the show. On my way back to the room, a little kid runs up to see Chuck E, and stabbed me in the ankle with a pencil as hard as he could. I rushed into the back room and took off the pants portion of the suit, pulled down my sock, and a bunch of blood poured out. Didn’t even go home early, boss just had me stand at the door.

hermantioush:
The worst part was wearing that rat suit after this this one dude was in it. He took it serious and would get up on the prize tables and get the kids to chant CHUCK E, CHUCK E....I could freakin hear it back in the kitchen over the noise and music.

Dude was butt naked in the suit. And he sweat, alot. I probably have hepatitis.

jackson0209:
Former employee of ~9 months

Very old woman peeing on the carpet in the entrance while standing up

Cleaning pee out of the sky tubes after a complaint that it got in a kid’s eyes and he couldn’t see

Walking into the bathroom to find an abandoned pair of underwear with p**p in it. Took everything I had to not throw up when throwing it away

While in the Chuck E suit, being asked by a large black man wearing all blue “why you got all that red on, cuh?”

Asking a mute girl if she wanted to put her candles on her cake and being told “she can’t talk” by her parents

GatorGood15:
Walked in on this 40 yo man ******* off. Our eyes met and we kind of just stared at one another. Most awkward 10 seconds of my life.

Raagarne:
I was a Game Room Tech, that part was awesome. I got to play games all day, fix coin jams, etc. However, one day before I was allowed to leave, they decided I had to wear the suit. This was 10 years ago, so it was before the redesign of Chuck E. Cheese.

I'm 6ft and with the suit on, ears included I was a giant. You can't really see in the thing. Anyway, they lead me out into the main area and I'm basically lumbering around. It's this horrible experience because I couldn't see, I kept bumping into things. You'd think this would be the worst part. Nope. It was the kids I scared. They counted. I made SEVEN children breakdown, scream, and bawl their eyes out. I felt like crap for it, wasn't much I could do, though. It got better. I finally get to take the suit off and leave. I'm walking to my car and this family is leaving. The little boy is crying, I figured it was due to having to leave. Nah. He's upset because Chuck E. Cheese terrified him. The mom goes, "I've had it, you need to straighten up already. If you don't, I'll take you back in and feed you to that giant mouse." Worst experience.

kirkyjerky:
We had this obese couple come in every once and a while who would order a pizza and then sit in one of the booths and make out aggressively between bites of pizza.

Nothing bad, but I'd gone very few times and back then it was Showbiz Pizza Place (totally superior! ) before Chuck E. Cheese bought them and took it over.

Did go to Chuck E. once for a friend's kids party. Kids paid attention to the Showbiz animatronic show and noticed the Chuck E. one was completely ignored.

I haven't been to a Chuck E. Cheese place since the mid 1990s when I was a kid hanging out with friends having pizza and playing arcades. I almost considered going to a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant near my old residence to have pizza, and a nice cold beer and play arcades, but it was too far to bike ride to (12 miles one way) and I won't drive if I have something alcoholic to drink, even beer.

Back in the day, my buddies and I would go to a Little Ceasers place that had arcades, pinball, rides, sketching art, puppet show and a large funhouse. Too bad they tore it down 30 years ago and turned it into a mini mall.

As a kid I have magical memories of Chuck E. Cheese. Mostly during birthday parties, hanging out in the ball pit/hiding/throwing other kids into it. But they got rid of ball pits long ago. I took my daughter there when she was like 3-6 and she had a hoot, but it's nothing like I remember it.

I'm old enough that I went to Showbiz Pizza and by the time Chuck E Cheese made it's way in, I only went there maybe one time.

I do remember as a kid in the early 90’s, alot of kids were scared of the robots, how they would move around and look at you. I remember walking into the show room where they did the animatronics, and in between shows while the room is empty and the robots are “asleep”, they would randomly “come to life” and look at you, they start moving and their eyes just suddenly open and stare at you, it was kind of creepy. I guess that’s basically the whole plot of “5 Nights at Freddy’s”.

One of my exs certainly did NOT like talking animatronics, it started with Teddy Ruxpin in the 80s. So she would never have gone near Chuck E Cheese when younger either heh.
