New Voltron Coming To Netflix In 2016

http://variety.com/2016/biz/news/dre...ix-1201672250/

Quote:
Beginning this year, Netflix will launch several new DWA-produced series, including a reimagining of the Voltron franchise, and “Trollhunters,” shepherded by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. The studio said the latter series “will unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around two best friends who make a startling discovery beneath their hometown.”

Sounds interesting though I really don't like the term "reimagining"

I almost feel bad for World Event Productions, the guys are very nice but the only success they've ever had is dubbing GoLion into Voltron and then buying the rights for GoLion. All their other shows had lukewarm success in the 80s and all their revivals of Voltron have failed. They've also been trying to get a Voltron movie for over ten years now.

Let's hope they learned from their failures of Voltron:The Next Dimension and Voltron Force. This being a re-imagining is good since the other two projects were sequels and faield terribly. I have a soft spot for Voltron so I hope it's good but we'll see.

Voltron Force was really not all that awful. 3D is ugly as hell but they at least attempted to continue the story, I guess. I'm not really sure it was ever a story that needed continuing, but hey, they bought the whole damn thing so they are committed I suppose.

Hopefully it's good?

Wow, so this is coming out in June?
How did we not know about this? I don't understand why Netflix sometimes just announces shows two years in advance and sometimes 2 months. The new Voltron looks like the Voltron Force version but I guess that's ok since that design was pretty cool. Wish we had more information.

Last year was the 30th anniversary and they released this video which was cool:

Their youtube channel actually has all the Voltron shows uploaded but for some reason half of the episodes are private for whatever reason.

The animation looks super clean. I am pretty hype for this. Voltron is one of the only robot animes I ever liked.

Fingers crossed for a sick remake on his theme.

Well I can definitely add this to the list of shows I'll be checking out during the summer hiatus.

Looks great - if I had Netflix I'd watch this for sure.

If I had to nit-pick (I don't but I'm going to), I'd say that the CGI Voltron doesn't really gel with the limited animation. The characters move at the standard TV anime, zero frames per second, while the lions look like they've escaped from Transformers: Devastation. No big deal though - it still looks very attractive.

Yesterday's Jeopardy! had a category called "Robot Check-In", that had a clue referring to how the reboot was coming this year. They even showed a clip.

Nobody got it. Nobody even made an attempt.

sad really!

i think even one of the Nickelodeon Tmnt wiki pages originally had Super Robo Mecha Force Five listed as derived from The Power Rangers.
not that it didn't borrow from them, but at the time Voltron wasn't even mentioned.
