And here's a cool letter I found in a shoebox. At the time volume 2 ended, I was a subscriber, so they sent me this letter about the end of volume 2 and the beginning of the Image era. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone!

Picked up another season 1 cel the other day, again from the episode "Shredder and Splintered". The scene is right before the Foot Soldiers start shooting at them outside the Technodrome. It also includes an error, Raphael in Donatello's color.

This one, like the last one I posted, didn't include any kind of background. So, I took some screenshots from the DVD, Photoshopped my own background and printed it out. Now, not only does it have a background, but it has the correct background for once! They're about as high quality as they can be from a DVD screenshot, but I think they look ok: edit: Sold

Sick ass finds, & you did an awesome job with the backgrounds. That's creative thinking with a great execution. Perhaps I should do the inverse for the painted backgrounds I own; cap the shots, print/cut out the characters, & pop 'em on top under the glass.

Thanks Powder. That's a great idea. I'd like to see the result! The cool thing for you is you can have a choice of whatever character shot looks best in the scene.

Added another cel, this time from episode 1, "Turtle Tracks"! Cels from this episode are very hard to find. I've only ever seen a few of them.
This scene is from the origin story, where Splinter introduces Donatello and his simple wooden bo, which can disarm any adversary. Classic!
(background is a printed reproduction)

Awesome cels, man! I'm loving the season 1 stuff. Great idea on the backgrounds, too. I'm thinking about doing the same for a few of my cels.

Thanks for the good words, guys!

I've been busy acquiring some new original art. I sold my '85 Eastman Ronin Turtle (from page 1 of this thread) and it has afforded me an opportunity to acquire some new cool pieces. Here are a few of them:

Leonardo by Eric Talbot, 2016.
fude pen, flair pen, dr Martin pen white, canson paper, Copic.
Love the detail in this piece. Edit: Sold

Issue 5 page by Eastman and Laird
from near the end of the book. Edit: Sold

Renet Concept Sketch, Eastman 1986. Pencil sketch mounted to 11"x14" paper, concept for TMNT #8.

More to scan. More to come in the next few days.

That page from issue 5 is awesome. I would love to be able to snag a page from that issue. It was the first book I purchased as an adult collector and what got me into a Turtles fix. Excellent. Thanks for sharing all this!

I fell in love with that Leo piece when Eric posted it, you're so lucky! It's a real special one. Very cool Eastman Spidey, it's so great (& rare) to see the Mirage crew do other heroes. The published works are rad too, of course. Congrats on the new scores, bud.

Yeah I saw the Talbot piece for sale and thought that would go fast...

I presume the page 5 came from Eastman's site? And I vaguely recall who originally owned the Renet piece, I was after it for a bit heh...

Dude that Talbot piece is bad ass.

BTW, I think I might hate you now for that 5 page, HAHAHA. My favorite turtle story arc of all time.

Thanks guys. The Talbot piece jumped out at me when I saw it, and I impulse bought it. I noticed last night he posted a few more cool pieces. Go check 'em out!
Both the #5 page and the Renet were indeed offered at Eastman's site at one point. The Renet has been in a few collections, I believe.

Here's one I didn't have a chance to post last night:

TMNT #39, page 13. While this 3-part story isn't my favorite arc of volume 1, I wanted to get this as my main OA focus is volume 1 pages and that era. Also the fact it's on duoshade and toned makes it pretty damn cool. edit: Sold

And one of my favorites. This one just arrived today:
TMNT Smash-Up, page 23, by Jim Lawson and Eric Talbot. This was a mini-comic included with the TMNT Smash-Up video game in 2009. There are many cool pages in this book, because of all the characters used. Edit: Sold

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy these.

Just picked up a classic 1986 Michael Dooney page from Mirage's Gizmo #1, page 8. One of the few Gizmo pages I've ever seen for sale. Edit: Sold

I've been on an original art kick lately, but now it's time to slow it down for a while. 'Til next time!

Slowing down collecting is like retiring - you'll die soon after.

keep em coming
