A Naginata is quite the dangerous weapon, since it can be used as a spear but also as a sword.

He certainly wasn't the worst fighter of the team in this incarnation.
In many ways, Donatello's ninja skills have been a compliment to Leonardo's in the 2k12 incarnation.

Donnie and Leo are able to combine their skills together in a way that makes them rather devastating as a tandom force.

Each of the turtles are strong fighters individually. While Donnie may not be classified as the strongest fighter on the team, he is anything but weak. It's actually his intelligence that makes him more dangerous as a warrior, rather than his actual physical skills in ninjitsu.

He has proven that is still strong and capable on his own without his brothers. Even during the vision quest episode, Donnie faces off against Tiger Claw on his own. Tiger Claw is the Foot Clans second-in-command a role previous facing off against Karai. He was able to defeat Karai and was prepared to kill her if he absolutely had to in Target: April O'Neil.

Yes, you can make the "There was no one left" argument in the vision quest episode, but that isn't entirely true as Stockman also could have been an option. Tiger Claw tends to prefer going after Leo even though he claims vendetta against all four turtles, April, and Casey. So the fact Donnie is put against the Foot Second-in-Command sort of suggests that he had graduated to a second-in-command role as well.

Y'know, I think the expertise Donnie exhibits in the FW toon gets a lot more scepticism than it should. They clearly have access to a number of books, to judge from the library they kept in the lair, especially in the episode Leonardo is Missing. Or any episode where one of them is shown reading some random book, like the plot of The Three Musketurtles. Plus, they seemed pretty familiar with the local library in Big Macc Attack, too. Donnie probably spent a lot of time there on the sly when it was closed. Or just borrowed books secretly, and brought them back later (perhaps after copying info from them).

There are also the little free library bins which have been a thing since 2009. We know the 2012 Turtles have supposedly never journeyed to the surface before their 15th mutation day. Raph does make that possibility questionable as when he comments that he's never seen pizza before but it sounds like he's lying through his teeth. So that may have been something the Turtles or at least Donatello could have taken advantage of after they are able to visit the surface. April also could have looked through them and brought a few interesting ones down to the sewers for her shelled friends from time to time.

At best the Turtles in any of the incarnations would have a 6th-grade education as Splinter would have homeschooled them.

I can see Splinter maybe going out and finding used or outdated textbooks for his sons to use as study guides. And maybe other books if possible as we do see him struggling to provide for them when they were babies. After they find the lair he finds he doesn't have to live in fear quite as much, but he still needed to find things for them to have a living at least until the Turtles are old enough undergo supervised supply runs.

In the 2k3 we know Donatello and by proxy, the other Turtles have made an alliance with a community of homeless people. The turtles bring them things they can use and in exchange that homeless community find the Turtles things they can use as well.

Splinter, at least the ones where he was originally human, was taught by the Japanese school system which is differently structured from the US school system. So it makes sense he would teach with the structure he was taught, but the only things he would effectively be able to teach the Turtles is reading, writing, and sums as those are the only subjects that would really apply. PE would of course be their Ninja Training.
History would need to be personal study both for Splinter and the Turtles.

This is because Splinter would have been taught Japanese history for a large portion of his education, and they live in America so he would have needed to study American history himself. But as he couldn't be a reliable source for actual American history he also would have encouraged his sons to study on their own. And in addition he would also tell them stories and the histories of his homeland.

Donnie would likely learn at a faster pace than the rest of his brothers. In the 2k3 Splinter might have had him do additional study or private study with him. Since when the Turtles encounter Casey when they are children, Donatello tries to teach him chess which I could see Splinter teaching or playing with Donnie and maybe Leo as a way of teaching them to focus on strategy.

2k12 Donatello likely would have exhausted everything Splinter could honestly teach him within 6 months to a little over a year. So he would have been separated out to do independent study while his brothers are doing their lessons.

A good example of Leo and Donnie being devastatingly deadly when working in Tandem was in "The Alien agenda" when they took down Ms. Campbell. Leo sliced her arms off while Donnie sliced her face off.

We can also see Donnie becoming the defacto leader when Leo isn't there in "New girl in town" when Raphael freezes up completely, Donnie steps in.

Also during the Second Invasion after Leo is injured Donnie instinctively takes up the reigns of leadership. And after Splinter is flushed down the drain the others immediately turn to Donnie as though saying Ďwhat now?í And in that moment we see Donnie close his eyes and when he opens them again itís like the are replaced by Leoís. Itís only after they leave the city that there is an unexplained shift in power somewhere down the line from Donnie to Raph.

We know Donnie would have kept Leo alive through the trip to be sure and likely would have handcuffed himself to Leoís bedside while he is in the critical stage at least. Then after Leo is stabilized enough to be put in the tub the way the scene is played out Donnie just up and leaves because he canít bear seeing Leo that way. But really the whole thing three months since the invasion are up to fan interpretation.

Even the younger turtles should have been to the surface. If they have to, they break into schools by night and steal textbooks.
