I was at a garage sale on Saturday and notice a couple bins of vinyl records for $1. My local thrift shops normally charges the same, but unfortunately it's 99% easy listening/country/soft jazz/classical that you might as well use as frisbees. This time, I was presently surprised to see lots of rock albums, many in VG or VG+ condition, with lots of classic '70s rock albums to be found along with a couple '60s and '80s. Some of my finds (at $1 each included):

-Led Zeppelin II
-Black Sabath Paranoid
-Black Sabbath Vol. 4
-Wings Over America
-Jefferson Airplane- Bark
-Frank Zappa Live in New York
-Bachman-Turner Overdrive II
-Boston
-Boston Don't Look Back
-Eagles Hotel California
-Madonna (1st album)
-Ghostbusters soundtrack album
-The Hollies Stop! Stop! Stop!
-The Temptations- Temptin' Temptations
-Gary Lewis and the Playboys Hits Again
-Alice Cooper- School's Out
-Bad Company- Bad Co
-Bad Company- Desolation Angels
-The Grass Roots- Leaving it All Behind
-The Buggles Adventures in Modern Recording

I even got a Joan Rivers album, modeled after Blackgama's famous "What becomes a (semi) legend most".

I tend to avoid most greatest hits LPs since I have most of them on 45.

There were even some Laserdiscs and even though I don't own a player, I puchased some since they were mixed in with the LPs and feel that $1 is a low price for many considering what I see on eBay. I purchased about eight, including a Japanese release on baseball, Bambi, a bizarre UFO, and others.

To me yard sales are the grown up equivalent of watching cartoons on Saturday Mornings as a kid. A bit rustic and often lower quality, but fun and can produce some gems.

The Offspring, DAYS GO BY, great record as always. Not the one I'd put on for someone who wasn't already a fan, but some of their best stuff is on here, just like every album they do. You're always promised at least one song that is among their very best ever, even if you get one or two that are nthe opposite. "OC Guns" might be the worst thing they ever put out; "Slim Pickens Does The Right Thing And Rides The Bomb To Hell" is pure gold, one of their best tracks in years. The remake of "Dirty Magic" isn't just competent, it far outdoes the original version off of IGNITION; I had to listen to both again just to be sure.

Not their best record ever, but some of their best songs. Nothing shocking or new, but as good as they've ever been, which at their best is really, REALLY good.

My CDs from Amazon came in today!
I got girly, poetry-laden Meg & Dia - Be Careful, I Love You, Stay In Touch, novelty, melodic death-metal Dethklok - Dethalbum III (Deluxe Edition) and the symphonic ThunderCats (2011) score.

The last CD purchase I made was 2 Eyeshine albums that I managed to get at Otakon and also got them signed. Yays.

They are "red stripes white lights" and "My Paper Kingdom".

Other than that... -thinks- I think that's it. I don't buy CDs/music too often.

I got the new SWANS, titled "The Seer". A double CD of very powerful and intense music. Waiting for them to play at the end of the month here in Italy.

I just got the promo CD with Bloodhound Gang's donkey edit of Fire Water Burn!! I could care less about the handful of other tracks included. $6 for that edit is a steal. ^_^

I scored this vinyl 45/EP collection of over 375 records for under $40 and the package just came in the mail yesterday (albeit covered in Shredded paper):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/45-RPM-Recor...vip=true&rt=nc

About half of what I received was from the '50s and got an original 45 of the Orioles' "Crying in the Chapel" on Jubilee along with the EP of Marilyn Monroe/Jane Russell's "Blondes Have More Fun" which are both scarce and hard to find. While I occassionally appreciate newer music, I'm more of an oldies buff (always been in my life as I've never quite been a Top 40 person). There were even a couple from the '90s (SWV/Spin Doctors) despite being mostly 50s/60s based, and some of the artists included The Crickets (Buddy Holly), Ivory Joe Turner, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and even a Beatles shout-out by The Carefrees called "We Love You Beatles". Of course I have many already in my collection along with some I don't want.

The Royal Guardsmen - Original Recordings 1966 - 1969 2CD set
Bday present... I shopped for it, and found that importing this from France is a better deal than digging up the US' 2001 double-LP CD compilations. Not only was this cheaper, but it includes six B-side tracks that aren't on those CDs. The only thing not perfect about it is that it was released in '95, so it doesn't contain the '99 remaster of "Snoopy's Christmas".

Today the new Paysage d'Hiver tape has been sent to me from Germany, and I will probably get it next week. I have waited eight years for this! Pd'H is my favorite band ever. I mean EVER. No other band comes close. My feelings are all over the place right now.

Bullet for my Valentine - Temper Temper.

Hmmm where do I start with this one? Taken a bit of a leap from their earlier work but not a terrible album as a whole but there is certainly some filler on there. Maybe after a few more listens I may change my mind.

Yoko Kanno & Seatbelts - Cowboy Bebop: Tank! The Best! CD

What a load of BS that title is."Glorified excuse to release these last three tracks" would have been more accurate.
