What made you happy today?

We pretty much never get a white Christmas and I could probably count the number of them in my life on one hand, but we got a brief little period of light flurries yesterday afternoon on the back end of that rough storm that came through Christmas Eve night/early Christmas morning. We were not within any forecast to see any snow at all from it, so even just those few flakes were neat to see.


As far as Turtley gifts go, my mom had come across and got me the Leo & 1962 Volkswagen bus set.

I got a Mando figure. one of my toy guys linked the Amazon exclusive pre beskar mando was back in stock for regular price. All the mando figures are scalper priced currently so I lucked out.

Post holiday workload finally done. Time to be lazy for a few days... And for all the back straining efforts I was "rewarded" with finally finding those other TMNT Matchbox cars (the "character cars" that incorporate their weapons into it) after months and months of checking that toy aisle every week. And a copy of The Polar Express book (that I've wanted for a while but always forgot to look in stores) for real cheap on Christmas clearance.

Finally felt better enough to drag my ass back to the gym for the first time in two weeks since I got sick. Went better than I thought it would, although I'm still a little congested so it was hard to breathe with the mask on, but I made it through. And I only had to lighten the weight on like two things compared to where I was last time, so that's pretty good all things considered. I got TWO Title matches to get ready for on the 22nd and 23rd, so I gotta get back on the horse.

Obviously I missed the Gym Hotties. And oh boy, were they out in force tonight. The best was at one point, I was on the Pec Deck, and this smokin' hot blonde with an amazing ass got on the Smith Machine and started doing heavy squats directly in front of me. I don't know if she was just oblivious or one of those chicks who craves the attention, but either way, I'm as grateful for that as I am for those yoga pants that were so tight I could tell she had on a stripper's G-string underneath.

It's like I don't even need porn, man*. Just Hot Chicks In Yoga Pants Doing Heavy Squats. All Day, Every Day, Forever.

Alright, so far today's going better. My Amazon account got reinstated, some cool action figures I ordered came in the mail (along with a game I thought had been lost in the USPS system), and it seems like my wife's car insurance situation is being straightened out, and they're apparently going to refund her some of the money she's been paying them during the time her policy was "lapsed" or whatever. I still wish it hadn't happened, but at least we didn't get stopped by the cops or something and have to find out THAT way. That would have been terrible.

My day was bittersweet... Mirage TMNT books came in the mail... I had a very good dinner... eggplant musaka. But I just found out that by tomorrow... there's supposed to be 12 inches of snow on the ground. That wont be good. I don't "snow" very well. Just never been good at it.

Are you fall and break two pairs of glasses in one day, within an hour or less, in 9th grade level of bad at it? I am. (Okay, ice was involved, but it was a nasty winter of layers of snow and ice.)

Well, I did brake my nose (actually just chipped the bridge of my nose) in 6th grade when I fell down a snowy hill and landed on my face. Yeah, sounds like you and I are about the same as far as snow goes. Ugh!

Also... really? I love that show... been trying to show it to my wife for ages. That's good news!

Me, I fell on an icy slope trying to get to my bus -- in front of all those other buses and students (yay humiliation!) -- then immediately did it again in our backyard (having just put on my spare backup pair of glasses), punching a hole in the thick ice with my cheek bone and giving myself a partial black eye.

That and then as an adult experiencing my vehicle not stopping at the end of my road and instead just sliding out onto the main road, with a van coming but luckily far enough away to stop... I think the winter PTSD is permanent. lol

That show is fun... Snow however... Oh, it's the worst, isn't it? Yeah, it kinda scares me... especially when on the road. I get really anxious about snow.

Nah, surprisingly, and thankfully, no one even asked about the bruise.

One kid standing in the doorway of his bus pointed and I heard him say something about me having fallen. Didn't appreciate being pointed out at the time, though looking back I doubt he meant anything bad by it, and maybe it was more out of concern, though he certainly didn't try to see if I was okay. He whose bus was right near that side exit with the pavement the school had taken care of okay, unlike many others of us who had to traverse a rather large swath of what is normally just grass, but now a winter death trap, to reach our buses... Worst winter we've ever had.

But yes, I definitely share the anxiety over the roads. We had basically zero snow last year and that was awesome. I don't mind if it comes when I don't have to work or leave the house and the roads are fine by the time I do, but too often I'm not that lucky. edit: My mom's like "You have 4-wheel drive!" and I'm like "slick roads don't care about that!" lol I have a Wrangler, but it sucks at it like I do.

I begged my wife to not take the car out... it's at about 1 inch now... roads are clear but driveay is covering with... mostly powder. Yikes! It's easy to shovel but when it gets powdery like this... it usually means it's just a prelude for BIG SNOW.

So anxious! Gonna go make some cookies! Cookies will make me happy today!

EDIT: I just got a phone call... and... a man wants to hire me at a local computer repair shop in the neighboring town (25 minute drive from my house). This comes after I just started back to work on Monday, post my Covid, having transferred to a new warehouse across town. My hrs are currently limited to 16 a week.

This begs the ?: Do I take the job part time and also work at the warehouse OR do I work full time at the computer repair store for 36 hrs a week. I like warehouse work. The job is easy and the pay is nice. The new boss is a lady who is very pleasant.

HAPPY MAKER... Well, just got out of the interview for "Computer Solutions."

The owner, Mike Doogan, didn't even really interview me. His assistant, Ricky, basically just told me that they needed another hand and somebody gave them my business card.

They handed me some busted machine and said... "We know what's wrong with it, but if you can fix it, the job's yours." Turns out there were registry errors, unindexed files and a loud sputtering from the bottom whenever the browser was running... Bad fan. Identified the problem and Mike shook my hand and said, "Can you start Monday?" Well, I told them about my other job and how I'm scheduled to work Monday... Ricky said, no problem... come in on your next day off." Tuesday. Starting pay is better than the warehouse job so. I will be quitting there soon, I guess.

It's surreal working for yourself your whole life and then have people throwing jobs at you. I'm quite lucky. This is a hell of an opportunity.

So... my first day went well at my new job. Turns out, they take apart and repair gaming console systems (pretty much all generations)... which I have very little idea how to do. It's gonna be a learning curve if they ever throw a console at me.

They gave me a Windows Vista laptop to completely refurbish for a client. Working on that now. My hrs are currently set at 3 days a week at CS and have yet to give my 2 week notice at Brendie's (my warehouse job) as I'm not sure if this much better job is going to last. We'll see. My hrs at Brendie's have been cut down to 2 days a week anyway... so far this is working... but who knows what the future holds.

Today went great. Met up with a wrestling buddy and bought his Master System for a song, met up with ANOTHER Good Brother and bought some toys and hung out catching up at his place. THEN when I got home I randomly happened to reconnect with my old girlfriend from 5th Grade who I haven't spoken to in almost 30 years. We had a great conversation and we're gonna do a lunch double-date with our respective spouses once the COVID sh*t clears up.

What an oddly great day. Couldn't have predicted half of it.
