New Show coming in 2018

I just hope it has the same level of action as the Nick cartoon.

I'm often surprised how violent the Nick cartoon got at times. Not even talking about the on-screen deaths, but how brutal the fighting was. I just rewatched the first episode Slash is mutated, and he literally beats the crap out of Michaelangelo and Donatello. The way he smashed them to the ground and beat them to a bloody pulp. And they all have bruises and battle damage on them when Raph comes to save them.

The Nick cartoon had tons of violence and action packed fighting scenes. I never expected it to get that dark.

I could deal with 4 years of TMNT Team up being Rise of TMNT just to watch this section of the forum burn for the next few months.

Honestly, I don't mind Team Up being what it is: Short little gag animations that show up online once in awhile. Heck, they could even show up on TV in their current form alongside the new show and I'd still be down for that.

What I'm hoping for is for the new show to be something along the lines of these:

The 2k3 series had, "What the shell?" and "It's Ninja Time!"

The Nick cartoon had "Booyakasha!" "Yeaaaah Booiiiiii!" and "Oh sewer apples."


What will they think of next?

Cowabunga will definetly make a comeback, it was prominent even in the 2k3/Nick series despite them having new catchphrases.

But I do wonder if they'll come up with any new ones or just stick to Cowabunga.

Yeah Cowabunga shows up in everything, the original movies and some eps of the 2k3 series too.

But there's usually new ones for each series. There's also, "Let's Turtle-ize 'em!" "Let's kick shell" and "Like a Turtle do!"

Whoever comes up with these catch phrases every series must know all the kids will shout them in the streets.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if this one just reuses old ones and doesn't bother too much with new catch phrases. If they do and more creative effort is put into this show than I'm feeling like it will bother with, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

It's okay, but agree with prior comment(s) that there is an awful lot going on there. Some poor designer has probably fretted over trying to make that much text work.lol

Just had a thought, I would love it if it Rise of the Tmnt took on the style of Nick's Invader Zim, with the turtles having human disguises when going up to the human world or even go to school since they're probably gonna be younger.

I doubt its gonna happen though, since Rise is aiming for lighthearted whereas Invader Zim had alot of dark comedy.

But never lose hope, there's always the possibility. After all, The Don vs Raph short was directed by Jhonen Vasquez, creator of Zim and both that short and Strike Hard were animated by the same team.

I think it would actually do fairly well if executed properly personally.....I loved Invader Zim as a kid

I wonder how much this show will pull for past incarnations or just do all new stuff. When the Nick cartoon first started they introduced a lot of new mutants, but then as it progressed they mostly brought back old characters rather than creating new ones.

The Nick cartoon used almost every major Mirage, Fred Wolf, 2k3, and Archie character except a small handful. It honestly kind of surprises me how many old characters they brought back since when the show first started I didn't expect to see them.

An Invader Zim-type TMNT might actually be pretty cool. All the dark edginess of Mirage with the comic stylings of FW.

All things considered, they would have a good source for human disguises at TCRI.
