I call B.S. on this and personally feel the series is doing great but I wanted to hear what you have to say about it.

I'm pretty sure IDW TMNT is on track to at least hit issue #100 and we won't get there till 2019, so I don't think we have anything to worry about in terms of sales. If you look at IDW's other properties on the sale charts they only sell like 5,000-11,000 copies a month, TMNT generally sells better than anything else IDW puts out on rare occassions.

Even if Universe ends for some reason I'm sure we'll get more mini's or specials like we're getting now with the Dimension X 5-parter.

Yeah, both universe and the ongoing are their best selling not DC crossover (at least in March of this year), so I don't see them dropping the license..

Yes, we got a cool advance look at how it's progressing. Seems very cool, doubt I can say any more than that. I don't know what sort of arrangement we'll come to regarding comics for it. Hopefully!

I haven't heard any concerns about either series. Perhaps they're judging sales by DC/Marvel standards? On my end things seem to be progressing normally in a market that has some headwinds currently.

Alright, a good word about it, that might calm some people down. There were some people worried about what little info we got about it.

I wasn't concerned myself but thanks for answering my question, Bobby. I'm glad to hear TMNT is doing well.

Just taking a look the sales for April, it's not until the 108th best selling title where the Marvel/DC domination stops and we start seeing more than two non-Marvel/DC titles in a row (5), followed by more Marvel/DC domination until the 130th spot. The first IDW occupied spot is number 158 (crossover with DC) followed by number 173 (11.3K). TMNT Universe is 185 (10.5K). I can't see the ongoing for some reason but March has it at 171 (13.1), which (not counting crossovers with DC) was the best selling title for IDW that month. The market shares Marvel/DC has together amount to 72,5% while the top 3 below them share 15,8%, that actually includes IDW at 2.95%.

So yeah, it's pretty clear IDW is not in Marvel/DC's league, depite still being in the top 5. In fact, it more frequently occupies the number 4 spot.

The ongoing isn't in April's numbers because 69 got bumped to a May release, so no ongoing was released in April. But TMNT and Universe are both consistently top selling books for them

Oh right, forgot about that. Point is that IDW's TMNT really only seems unsuccesful if you compare it to the sales expectations of the big two, it's doing very well compared to almost anything else.

The whole motto of DC's "New 52" was they literally release 52 or a little more comics a month. That doesn't even counts their kid-line titles either like the Teen Titans Go comic or other ones based on the kids cartoons.

In fact here's a list for all of DC's releases for June, there's nearly 60 comics and more TPB's released in a single month:

It's easy to forget how small a company like IDW is when you compare them to giants like DC and Marvel.

Are there any new updates on reprints of Image's Volume 3 and Mirage's Volume 4 you might provide us?

Hey Bobby,

this isn't really a question, just a nice tidbit of info.

the TMNT 2017 FCBD: Prelude to Dimension X is now available on Comixology.

thankfully the issue was posted as a one-shot and not grouped into the other issues, so it wont interrupt the flow of continuity on re-reads.

just wanted to share that bit of good news.
thanks for giving us that issue to enjoy!

No, not at this time. I want to say it's on the production schedule for a certain time, but it's been bumped before. So until it's officially announced (and IF) i'll keep mum. As I don't handle the reprints, I'm not on the front line of that information, but last I heard it was going to happen.

Do you know if the Tales of the TMNT Vol 9 collection is still on track? I'm seeing a TBD date on shipping.

I saw, too -- and I can safely echo that it's gonna be some really fun stuff! I really dug what they showed me.
