Quick summary of this all:
Karai- Continuous shift in her character. By that, I mean no sense of real identity (unless this part of season 4 brings something new) and she serves as a plot device since her mutation, mind control did nothing to advance the story except prolong her arc. Irma (before the Sub-Prime reveal)- Extraneous character who served no purpose in nearly any episode she appeared in. April- I wish not to comment on it as it's a difficult assessment, very subjective. Renet and Mona- Until either reappear, both used as relationship fodder. Queen and Rook (Utrom Council)- Shrouded in mystery that could be further explored, only used once. It's not difficult to see why someone would be annoyed, most of them are relationship based or not used to their full potential. Unless Shinigami leaves an impression, I reserve my doubts.

I wouldn't consider that an unfounded opinion at all.

I can't wait to see Shingami and what her role will be. And based on reports that Yeo is also in season five, the character just might come back.

The thing that annoys me about Queen is how she breaks the status quo for female characters within the show and Utroms overall, but there seems to be little chance of seeing her again. I have some reservations about Shinigami, but they're pretty shallow. She's pulling the same 'goth' line that Karai (even not deliberately for her) and Irma did, and her being a witch doesn't help it much at all. I already have an idea of what to expect with her...especially thanks to Kitsune in IDW

Renet's not shipper fodder at all. She's there for plot related material.

I'm not bothered by it, and it'll be interesting to see how she became friends with Karai. The fact that she's a witch is also pretty cool.

That doesn't mean she has to dress like her entire wardrobe is from Nocturn Alley's Hot Topic.

The show is awesome and I couldn't imagine not watching it. It's everything I love about TMNT all in one spot. I feel like it's a love letter to my generation and I think it's easily the best incarnation of the animated Turtles. Stellar voice acting. Great production value. Great characterizations. Great storytelling that actually generates genuine emotion. It's just a great show and I can't wait until the next episode.

I haven't entirely dropped the show from my radar, but at the same token, I don't watch it hardcore either.
Youtube seems to be an outlet for me to watch the old episodes since the Nickelodeon site continually locks up various episodes, to which I do find very annoying, but I digress.

Pretty much how I view TMNT currently. I'm just not into it as much as I was in my mid-teens. I don't know why, but TMNT is no longer much of a big deal to me anymore. Season 4 having some mediocre and pretty bad episodes did not help.

Beyond the known universe, Wyrm, Ancient Aeons, Revenge of the Triceretons, Evil of Dregg.
Some of the good ones had a bad first half, like Earth's Last Stand. Many disliked the Mona Lisa stuff. |

If you'll pardon the insult at a generation,
that's a good way to describe it, but not in a GOOD way IMHO. This generations entertainment seems to delve alot into stupid family guy like humor, fart jokes, and dumbed down entertainment that doesn't seem to have that extra spark that the old toy driven stuff had. People are STILL talking about He-Man, as stupid as it was, 30 years later. something tells me this new TMNT show will be forgotten as quickly as some people have the newr 4kids series, which was vastly superior IMHO, and DID have that extra fun spark. this doesn't feel very much like tmnt to me at all. the characters are watered down and unlikable. mikey has the intelligence of a dumb 4th grader. any girl on the show instantly has to like one of the guys...etc. This newest episode..oh, look, it's Karai. someone who's been forgotten about since the middle of season 3, IIRC. now suddenly she's back in full force, and with a new friend no less? for lack of a better description, to me, it's juvenile without much substance. it doesn't feel like a lived in world either when plot points pop up out of nowhere and get quickly forgotten. |
