A non-combat-focused episode

I realized that this version, much like Mirage's, has Splinter as a bad influence on our protagonists. Splinter here is a lazy fellow who has given up hope and wants to live out his life in peace after his hardships, while ignoring them. This causes his "sons" to have a similar attitude, not really taking their duties seriously. And yet his children also realize he's a bad influence and try to shake him off, something the Mirage originals never did.

A Mirage and Rise crossover would be an actually interesting subject (and please, let's not to the "Mirage Turtles are scary" gag again); due to how Splinter is a bad influence in both. While this one may be hedonistic, world-weary, and careless, at least he isn't the selfish, bitter, abusive, cowardly, bloodthirsty maniac his Mirage version started out as, let alone the vile abomination his Zuli version is implied to be. It could be interpreted as a warning to either of the two rodents. And what if this Splinter turns out to be the same calculating, embittered madman his comic version was?

So... uh... we got to see a little more of the lair?

Don't really know what else to say for it. It was... something. But not quite sure what.

That was super wacky, I dug it. Never thought I'd see a shaven Splinter, though.

1) Spinter's fur seems to have fast growing fur. 2) Are the stages supposed to be a reference to the Five Stages of Grief? 3) I think stage 4 is my favorite stage. 4) The sewer lair has more arcade machines than the 2012 version.

Heck, their lair has an entire arcade!

Where did they steal all those from...

Clearly the 7 stages represent the stages you feel during the flu or a cold. Fever, irritability, wanting attention, delirious, giving into demands because you just don’t care and want to feel better.

I don’t think we can really know Splinter’s character from this since he was portrayed out of sorts. It was quite an episode though.

Questions

Anyone else want to see the Adversary and the Father of All Reptiles appear in this version after this episode? Given Splinter is plenty a bad influence as of now, imagine how they'd fit in organically. Could be an interesting twist on or even replacement for the usual Northampton arc. And yeah, the flu's a pretty funny thing. And also, is this episode's title a Disturbed reference? If so, they get cool points.

Well that was... I can't tell if this or Repo Mantis deviates the most from what I think of TMNT.

I can at least say this, Repo Mantis is funnier as it had a more coherent logic. When it comes this, it seems kind of random and arbitrary.

What's unnerving is you pointing it out. You're literally trolling.

Not a fan of this episode. Splinter shaving himself was weird and it was too wacky for my liking.

The whole episode was bizzare. I kind of like this Leo, he's a bit of a background leader. Splinter is normally my favourite, but not this version...

It doesn't help he looks awful

Modern flashimation is a travesty. I read somewhere on a "Dad" website that the show was gorgeous. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I think it looks terrible.

What started out as a joke with Ren 'n Stimpy 20 years ago has become the standard in animation. Ironic too, because I'm not a fan of CGI animated series either, but TMNT 2012 was the first show done in that style that I thought was great.

Does everyone here think this show is going to have legs?

Gorgeous...? Clearly people who are impressed just by flashy bright colors and hyperactive animation. If they'd ease up on the sugar rush a little and stop being lazy with the frame jumps it would be an improvement. (And for the love of god can we stop with the "camera" shakes/jumps.)

Most American animation used to have so much fluid motion going on... now I guess we're dumbing it down to save a buck with fewer frames and trying to look like anime with so little motion happening other than who's speaking at the moment. Rather sad. I'd take that back any day over the spurts of over-hyper nonsense that's trying to cover for it.

Legs? Not really. I mean, we're getting two weeks of eps and exactly how many involve the actual allover theme they tried so hard (well, mild effort) to sell us on? Maybe ONE with just a repeat of the Origami something or other ep this week? Why did they bother with the theme... (Or some of the needless changes for that matter.) Was it largely only an excuse to load it up with new mutants? (And toy sales.) I'm not entirely against going for one off eps like the first series and was okay with most of the stand alone "filler" eps 2012 did, but at that rate, forget trying to have a theme and at least don't dumb it down. I know FW was goofy, but the eps DID typically have a pretty solid plot line. So far, most of these have no plot at all, or a very weak or limited one at best. This ep is a prime example. Rename the series to "Turtles Just Doing Stuff".

I watched this episode with a friend and I felt like I was on drugs.

Actually I have watched this entire series with a friend. Its not safe to watch this awful show alone! If you do you might wake up in a bathtub full of ice.
