The Casey Jones vs Slash is mine
http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryP...236&GSub=95492 as well as the following Tokkah v Razhar. Here is a link to that one: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sho...&postcount=369 I got mine over a year ago, and was very pleased with everything. Dan was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend anyone on the fence to dive in. I would recommend requesting a some sort of background scene. For the Casey one I just asked about characters whereas for the 2nd one I asked for them to be in a junk yard and it added so much depth to the commission.

Nice! Here's what Dan did for me
He's really awesome and a pleasure to work with. He even lets you refuse it if you're unhappy with how it came out. Hey speaking of commissions does anyone have Chris Allan's contact info? I'd love to get one from him too. |

Awesome piece. He showed me that one as a sample commission and it was extra affirmation that he was going to draw me one badass-looking Leatherhead.

Tried it again...however this mailer daemon turns up:

Great! I got commission info as well and will wait for the next paycheck to get some spending cash to use on it. What is your picture going to be?

Did you also get a commission by Berger?! Or by somebody else?!
I'm getting a battle worn Raph on toned paper standing in a pile of skulls.

When you say toned paper, do you mean duo-shade or just that the paper itself isn't white but another color?

It's a sort of paper (no longer made, though some of the Mirage guys have some laying around) that creates a cross-hatching effect when a certain chemical is applied to it. I've uploaded examples below. The first picture is a regularly inked piece on standard paper, the second was done on duo-shade paper. If you zoom in you can see the toned areas have these little lines running through them that add a sort of shadow effect, that's where the chemical was painted on with a brush. Most mirage books done by in-house artists feature it. http://imgur.com/a/jox1E

Ok, yeah I remember a youtube video, in which Peter Laird shows on a Donnie sketch how this duo shade paper works...well I'm gonna post my commission here, as soon as I get it. I don't know if it's gonna be duo-shade or not. We'll see

For my Berger commission I couldn't decide between the added inking detail & greytones given to B/W vs. the unique look of the toned paper with white highlights. Of course, Dan was awesome and gave me the best of both worlds by doing it on lightly toned paper, detail, greytones, highlights, and all!

I originally went with toned paper on my first piece hoping the whites would really make the lines pop. They do, to some extent, but I found that compared to my other pieces displayed it was hard to see. I'd only suggest it if you're gonna have the piece framed in a well lit room (Mine is kept relatively dim).
