Nice!
Glad I haven't bothered to pick up a trade of the TMNT/Usagi IDW story yet... this will be a much better addition to the shelf.

Does this include the Peter Laird drawn Usagi crossover, or just Stan Sakai's?

I'd wait. I actually held off on getting the previous editions because I didn't want to double dip if something better came along later. I'm not a huge Usagi fan, so I could wait.

The listing is 132 pages so can't we figure it out? The recent IDW crossover was 40 pages, wasn't it? And a lot of the old Mirage crossovers were only like 10 pages each.
What else could be there besides sketch pages or stuff? |

Makes me wonder if IDW and Dark Horse entered into a "we publish one, you publish one" agreement kinda like how IDW and DC have handled the various Batman/TMNT crossovers.

This looks cool! Hopefully it offers something unique though. I’ve been wanting to get into reading more Usagi. Thinking about picking up the collected editions. I’m not sure why I would get this though. I think most of the TMNT stories are already collected in the currently available Usagi stuff. And I have the IDW crossover already. Hmm.

At only 132 pages this is going to look small compared to the other books in this series, the previous volumes are all 500 or more pages. Maybe this is just the first of several smaller books for usagi.

We can expect :
- Turtle Soup vol.1 #1 short-story (Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew) [4 pages] - Peter Laird Usagi Yojimbo vol.2 #10 back-up story (The Crossing) [8 pages] - Shell Shock TPB short story (The Treaty) [6 pages] - Usagi Yojimbo vol2. #1-3 (Shades of Green) [3*20 pages] - Recent crossover TMNT/Usagi Yojimbo (Namazu, or the Big Fish Story) [~40 pages] - Possible crossover pin-ups (one from the early days from Donatello Micro-series #1 and one from Tales vol.2 #25) Regarding The Crossing, Stan Sakai would have said : "Namazu will be printed in color but the other stories will be b/w. There may be some color pin-ups, but I'm not sure. The only story that readers may not be familiar with is The Crossing by Peter Laird, which, to my knowledge, has not been reprinted since it was published in Fantagraphics' UY #10." To be confirmed, I was told of this and couldn't find where he would have said that. |

The above came straight from Stan's mouth himself, so you can trust it

I bet you are the one who sent me this quote on Facebook . Did Stan say this on Facebook as well? I would be curious to read the whole thread. Thanks! |

According to Dark Horse, the book will include 1987’s “Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew,” 1988’s “The Crossing,” 1989’s “The Treaty” 1992’s “Shades of Green” and “Namazu,” published in 2017 by TMNT license-holder IDW Publishing. It’s also said to include bonus material by Usagi Yojimbo creator Stan Sakai.

Or was that it?

Quote:
1) Original floppy one-shot, just containing Namazu (from IDW) 2) Hardcover version of one-shot, containing Namazu and Turtle Soup & Rabbit Stew (IDW) 3) Special Edition hardcover of one-shot, containing Namazu, Turtle Soup & Rabbit Stew, and The Treaty (IDW) 4) TMNT/Usagi trade paperback that this thread is about containing Namazu, Turtle Soup, The Crossing, the Treaty, and Shades of Green 1-3 (Dark Horse) Jeez. I liked the story and all, but these releases, all in rapid succession, all containing just a liiiiiiiittle bit more than the last release, really milked the hell out of things. I kinda like that Dark Horse cut IDW off at the pass and just released an edition with EVERY TMNT/Usagi crossover in it. Otherwise, we probably could've looked forward to IDW putting out the Super Special Edition, featuring Namazu, Turtle Soup, The Treaty, and the Crossing, followed a month later by the Super Duper Special Edition, featuring Namazu, Turtle Soup, The Treaty, The Crossing and Shades of Green Part 1, followed two months later by the Hyper Super Duper Special Edition, featuring... You can see where I'm going with this. |
