2k3 complete series dvd

I still own the original releases of this series on DVD, completely. Should I just keep those? Sounds like this is possibly worse in quality, somehow, is that right?

That 1080p fan remaster I saw on Reddit is starting to look really good about now.

Nevertheless, a price drop may persuade me to try this. A company like Discotek would have given it an SD-on-BD release at minimum.

Oh no, the DVD release of this show I like only has the show I like! If someone like Shout Factory had put this out, they would have likely made sure to have all the episodes/content uncut. This still does not have the full version of “Turtles Forever”, it is missing the multi-part bonus episode “Mayhem From Mutant Island” and has an edited/cut version of at least one episode. You may not care about buying movies with scenes chopped out of them or being sold books with pages ripped out of them first, but I do. And someone has said the picture quality looks blurry or like it is an inferior transfer to previous versions released on DVD?! Although admittedly I can’t vouch for that because I was dumb enough to assume that it would actually be sold in retail stores like it deserves in order to capitalize off the hype of the upcoming film. Silly me.

How do random fans possess far more content and knowledge of series than the actual corporation that hold the rights to them (not just this show)?! It just comes off as a lazy release that (easily) could have been made into something special and worthy of the quality of the show. I will still buy it because I love the show and they know we don’t have a better alternative anyway so they don’t have to do anything extra yet it will still sell regardless. From the very beginning this series has been cursed with baffling DVD releases until 4Kids! finally got their act together near the end of their ownership on the double disc 2-part Season Sets….but (as should of been expected) they only released Seasons 1, 2, 5 and 6 properly (and you have to get the UK Region 2 release of “Turtles Forever” in order to get the superior/complete version of it since Nickelodeon International at least pretended to care about putting out a competent product for consumers there; unlike the domestic branch of Nickelodeon who knows we 2003 fans are like starving peasants who will desperately gobble up any stale crumbs they graciously sprinkle onto the floor anyway).

I think the original DVD release is going to stand as the best quality we're ever going to get of this series.

The individual release of "Turtles Forever" is actually widescreen, but it doesn't fill the whole screen, and instead has black borders on all four sides of the picture. "Turtles Forever" on this set fills the whole screen, but it runs three minutes shorter than the individual release. I might have to do a comparison one day.

I thought the image quality was fine, but if others complain, then I guess there's something wrong.

All of the episodes that are from multiparters have their recaps. I'll have to check my other volumes, but I saw that the volumes with the three-part "Return to New York" and the two-part "The Search for Splinter" omitted the recaps.

I appreciate special features, but I didn't think this set would have them, although that would have been nice.

Interesting. Was the Eastman and Laird epilogue ending still there? I know that they cut that out of certain Nick airings.

Edited episodes is a legitimate gripe. But that ties back into the one and only thing I care about: whether or not the DVD has the whole show. Besides, that was never my issue. I was only speaking in regards to complaints that a DVD release doesn't have MORE than the show. The rest of it is simply stuff that doesn't bother me. I can't personally speak to the picture quality yet, but the picture that was shown didn't seem to have anything wrong with it.

Well, that'd probably account for a missing minute or two, then. Wild that this film is STILL getting pruned for TV, and they think that's the version people want to own. Mostly getting this for the episodes since I assumed it'd be the TV version of TF in the first place, but that's an unexpected disappointment.

It was confirmed at the beginning that the movie would be the edited TV cut. To date, the best version remains the R4 Mexican DVD release. Uncut, NTSC, and 16:9 enhanced.

I've read that they apparently censored some of the episodes on here. Or, well, at least one has been confirmed, so far. When Tengu Shredder is defeated, the shot of him being sliced in half is cut out.
Oddly, Insane In The Membrane is completely intact despite featuring much worse.

Would still appreciate if someone could weigh in on my previous post, though.

I expected it to be bad but not quite this bad. Is the crappy deinterlacing visible on the streaming version as well? I could let Moviezing off the hook in that case, since they would have received poor sources from Paramount; otherwise it sounds like they did an awful job with the encoding.

I believe it did. Unfortunately since that time Paramount has produced its own edit of the movie which excises that postlude and now has removed any other version from its archive.
