This is probably a stupid question, but do we know if Launchpad is even returning in this series? Because the image is giving me the feeling Donald is taking his place in the group.

Yeah I don't think Launchpad will be in it. Especially since it shows Uncle Scrooge driving. Webigale looks a bit older than she did in the original.

The original release about the show last year said Launchpad would be returning.

Ah, that's great to hear.

Perhaps if we're lucky we'll even see DW make an appearance, eh?

It's based on the Carl Barks era, and Donald Duck was originally in the "launchpad" roll. In the original show, the creators thought Donald steal the focus from Scrooge and that his voice would be to hard to understand. Hence Launchpad was used.

I hope he's in it tho.

Well I'll be darned. You learn something new everyday. Thanks for sharing.

Now if ya'll excuse, I got a major hankering to read some Scrooge McDuck and watch some Ducktales.

I wonder if that's why Huey, Dewey, and Louie's voices were different from Donald Duck's. In previous cartoons where they involved, they also sounded like Donald Duck. I personally thought they sounded better than Donald Duck in DuckTales, and I was glad that they had the same voices for this one Christmas special.

So I don't know if this has been shared, but according to Terry McGovern (Launchpad), the whole voice cast is being replaced: http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/...ng-for-Reboot/

"I am heartsick. Bad news. This is not a life or death situation, but it feels like one. Disney is re-booting Ducktales. And, here’s the bad news for me and the rest of the original cast–they are RE-CASTING! A very sweet woman called me from their offices to impart this development just moments ago. It was considerate of them, but it was not what I wanted to hear. When she first introduced herself on the phone, that she was calling on behalf of Ducktales, I thought, WOW! THE BAND’S GETTING BACK TOGETHER! Alas, it’s going to be a new band. So…someone else will play Launchpad McQuack. I haven’t told Launchpad himself yet. He’s in the garage tinkering with the Thunderquack. I just don’t have the heart to tell him. But I will. Just don’t tell him until I do, OK? And thanks for your sympathy. I wish the new cast well."

Yea, most likely.

Goddammit. Alan Young is still going strong though, at least keep him as Scrooge. Although, he is 96. I can understand Disney not wanting to use him in case he dies halfway through production. Sad, but true.

Here's some good news. First look at the new series:

Spoiler:

It's not CGI! Thank God!

Looks like we might be getting more Donald this time around.

Is that production art or is it actually going to look like that? If so, it's rad!

I hadn't thought of that. I can't find anything about it being production art though.

Donald's black shirt is an interesting design choice.

It's sad to hear that none of the original voice cast is returning but I am not surprised at all.

Were they supposed to come back when this was announced?

Some things deserve to be rebooted. But DuckTales? I sincerely hope they don't use the original cast - Alan Young hasn't been so young for several decades now (95-years-old!), Chuck McCann (Duckworth) is 80 and June Foray (Magica) is 97! They might have passed on by the time this series is ready to air, forcing Disney to either cancel the series or recast them - and nobody wants that. A lot of the other cast members are also very old or have passed on.

On the plus side, maybe now Disney can finally give us the final DVD volume of the original series.

Funny thing , I actually just bought all 3 volumes on Amazon and have started to watch them with my daughter before school And I'm really enjoying watching these again. What is this about the final volume not released ?

You can't go changing things associated with people's nostalgia without expecting some type of uproar.

It's not really a change if it's a reboot; it's new. But yeah, I guess most people don't see it that way. Dumb.
