The Wildstorm

So at the back of every issue of DC comics over the last couple weeks had advertisements for the new Wildstorm series. Well I fell for it and bought issue 1. I was assuming it would be a great starting out point. I thought I would get some sort of explanation of something.

I am completely lost. Has any one read this first issue? Have you read previous stories of these characters. Can you give me any help?

I read the first two issues, yeah.

Huge fan of Warren Ellis and the art was great, but I'll probably be stopping here for now. It's sure to be a great book, but I am extrememly strict on shelf space, so I'll have to let it go.
