IDW TMNT major and minor key issues

I am looking for a list of major and possibly minor key issues for the IDW TMNT. Issues that contain a first appearance, origin, or other historically or artistically important features. All of IDW TMNT, not just the main. Does anything like this exist? I know Turtlepedia, but I am looking for a more streamlined or condensed version.

IDW is pretty densely packed. That's my only complaint about it. It should really be a weekly series which I have been saying for years now and this will probably happen eventually, if the Dimension X micro happening in August is any indication.

The point I am trying to make is that there aren't really any minor issues. A breakdown with new plot points, characters, and summaries for each issue is justifiable.

The 2012 and 2014 Annuals can maybe be skipped (although they do technically introduce some stuff).

That's about it. Everything else contributes and moves stuff forward.

Yeah that's why i wrote "possibly" minor issues in the first post. Perhaps the first time there was a collaboration among two specific artists would work as a minor key element. Or maybe the first appearance of a minor character. Just brainstorming here. But back to the original question. Does a list categorizing major/minor elements in IDW TMNT exist?

There's not much that can be skipped over, aside from the annuals as Cylon said. The second annual does introduce Renet, but it doesn't really matter since my first intro to IDW's Renet was the Turtles in Time mini and I caught up just fine.

The April/Casey mini is essentially filler with not much happening either.

If you're looking for an abridged reading list, most of the minis and what not tend to depict relatively trivial events. Some of them though, like the Raph and Hun Micros, have to be read to understand certain things (Seriously, the main series never explains how Hun beefed up so quickly, you have to read his micro to get an explaination). As for the main series? Much harder to shave it down. You can skip the Christmas issue and maybe the phony negotiation between Shreder and Krang, but it's pretty lacking in straight up filler or standalone issues, it's really tightly written.

Still, that's part of what I love about it.

The Wyrm issue was also technically a filler issue, assuming Wyrm doesn't ever return. Felt like a nice nod to the Archie Wyrm and that's all.

Perhaps a reference list doesn't exist because there is not solid criteria for determining major and minor key elements. And to a fan everything could be major. Would you say B&RDE #3 to be a key issue, minor or major?

Like our fellows dromers have said, it's pretty hard to skip some things even the Micro's play a role in the Main narrative ( far later down the line mind you)

Mikey's Micro takes the longest to be referenced again so you could possibly skip that. April & Casey's Micro take place at the same time as issue 13 and they pay off immediately after they're done. Baxter's could potentially be skipped but it offers great insight to the character. The meeting between Shredder and Krang can be skipped so long as you've read Secret History of the Foot Clan.
And the Christmas issue is a fun one shot that won't hurt you if you skipped over it but then again why would you?

A lot of the villian Micro's take place at the same time as City Fall and offer behind the scene things happening in the city.

I don't see why you would want to skip any issues, personally. Even the April & Casey miniseries is worth one read-through (although you might need to pour yourself a stiff drink afterwards).

I may have worded my original post poorly but i am sure i never used the word "skip." I thought "keys" was a common term in the comic book world. Oh well.

You did and yes "keys" is a term used widely in comic book collecting.

We can set up a list of keys wiyh a little help from Turtlepedia and list it chronlogical by series. Issues which are first appearances or important events.

That sounds cool dude. Someone that was feeling particularly ambitious could copy&paste ToTheNines (with his approval) chronological timeline. Then some info could just be added briefly detailing events. Such as the notes on a CGC graded label. I was hoping a categorized list already existed though because I am not needing another project. Thats why I created this thread. I might eventually get around to it though if no one else finds a task like this to be fun and attractive. I think a list like this could be a wonderful resource.

Well, I mean...even that's pretty important since it creates a lot of the motivations for Shredder being willing to attacking Burnow (after Donatello asks, of course)

Yeah but you won't lose why Shredder and Krang hate it each other. Shredder cossed him in the past and Krang holds a grudge. But it is the first appearance of Bludgeon and the reappearance of Koya so there's that.

This isn't perfect and just a light summary of events as I could expand details of certain issue's.

Thanks dude, good start. I think the less detailed the better. If it gets to expanded it would lose the point I am after I think. Just a quick reference list of major/minor key appearances and major events things like that. I hope I can have time to take this project and run with it. I do notice Nightbug needs added. Thanks again dude.

Something kind of like this xmen list would be pretty good I think.

i definitely wouldn't say the 2012 Annual is "skippable".

that was where we really got introduced to the gang at the Skara Brae Bar.

in particular is Angel's father.

plus it's a really good Raph/Casey buddy story for the IDW universe.
