Bebop and Rocksteady, what happened to the animals?
I was watching the Fred Wolf show and started thinking about the fact that Bebop and Rocksteady were human before they mutated. Robots took the rhino and warthog from the zoo and then we see the animals together with the thugs. Yet once they are mutated the animals are gone.
So what happened to the animals? Did they combine with them or did Shredder just put the animals back? |

I sorta implied that they took DNA from the animals and put it in the mutagen then used it on rocksteady and bebop. I gotta watch it again... Tomorrow.

Nope, Donnie, the animals were on hand when Bebop and Rocksteady were mutated. I figure once Bebop and Rocksteady "came in contact" with them, Shredder either "disposed" of them or perhaps kept them in the Technodrome for future mutants....maybe.

The actual animals were probably just sent back to the zoo to roam around.

Once an animal (or any other living thing for that matter) mutates with another lifeform, the assumption is that both lifeforms have united with each other. There aren't four pet Turtles, a rat, a snapping turtle, a wolf, a lizard, a fly, or anything else that separates.

It is something to think about. I mean with the idea that IDW might start going human to animal I wonder if they will address this. I mean it is a little point but something that is kind of fun to think about.

We should all just ask Cubed every question for answers, that way we wouldn't need threads. I mean it is awesome that we have someone with so much knowledge and inside information on the board.

In the turtles forever movie Hun mutates into a turtle by coming in contact with them and the mutagen but no one "disappeared". Now I'm confused..

Swedenfan that's kind of what I was thinking. It is interesting though that they go through the procedure of explaining how animals to mutant works, but never really went into how human to mutant works. Or at least if they did I must have blinked and missed it.

According to their discussion in #25 of the Archie comics Bebop and Rocksteady did infact merge with their animal counterparts the same way Baxter Stockman merged with the fly. It's what they call a cross-mutation.

Technodrom garbage chute.
This merging talk is giving me the creeps. You mutate halfway into whatever you were last in contact with. I'll pop in the DVD, anyway, since it's sitting right here.

Looks like this is the last you see of them.
Spoiler:
Shredder opens the canister, and the scene cuts. Next time you see Bebop and Rocksteady, they're mutants. So yeah, garbage chute.

I don't understand the confusion here. It was fairly straightforward that a human becomes mutated into the animal that he/she last came in contact with. With Yoshi it was a rat, with Bebop and Rocksteady most likely Shredder forced them to come in contact with the animals.

Splinter wasn't with the rats last though, he was with the turtles cleaning them. So the rule saying last animal in contact with should have changed him into another Turtle. |
