Godzilla vs. Kong
Godzilla vs Kong is gonna be directed by Adam Wingard, who directed the Blair Watch reboot, and directed the Death Note adaption for Netflix.

He also did "The Guest" which is pretty good, even if it's kind of a slow burn. Neat. Excited for this to come out.

So, anyone placing any bets on the winner? The King Kong in this franchise seems to be more on par with Godzilla than previous versions, so it'll be more of a fair fight.
I'm betting they encounter each other fight one or two times, then team-up against some other, more malevolent kaiju

That wasn't a reboot. Not remotely.

Kong won the first duel way back in the 1960's. He did it before and he can do it again. Godzilla vs. Kong II. PPV will be 59.99$ and the live event ticket price will run about 400$ for backseats and almost 2000 plus for the nosebleeds.
Godzilla vs. Kong II. Don't miss it. |

Godzilla didn't get his chest hair lit on fire, so who really won?

Yeah, I saw that news making the rounds on twitter yesterday. It sucks, but I’m sure it’s for the best. I’d rather them take the extra time to do it right than put out a rushed, sub-par product.

Well... they had 5 whole years between Godzilla 1 and Godzilla 2 and we saw how that went.

I was so bummed to read that. My sweetie & I have been watching every Godzilla film throughout the year & this seemed like it was gonna be the perfectly timed end-cap. Oh well, better late than never. I'm more interested in what Toho is working on, hope this doesn't give them a delay as well.

I mean for my part, I enjoyed Godzilla: King of the Monsters waaay more than Godzilla (2014). I liked that Godzilla and the other monsters all got more screentime but I do admit that the human element was severely lacking. Pretty much every scene with Vera Farmiga or Millie Bobbie Brown was terrible. It’s my hope that they’re taking extra care with the CGI but also reworking the human-centric parts of the plot so they’re not so abysmally weak this time around.

Really disappointed to hear that they pushed the release date back like 8 months.
I like the human characters much better in Godzilla KotM then Godzilla(2014). Though I wasn't a fan of Vera Farmiga's character at all. But I liked Millie Bobbie Brown's but her decision not to leave(until it was too late) when she summoned Ghidorah still puzzles me. |

Like how they went from believable characters with understandable dispositions to brilliant scientists that want to wipe out most of the planet and and super invincible Agents of SHIELD organization with helicarriers or whatever?

Yeah the serial escalation of the MonsterVerse movies is very real, but if the movies can continue to be fun then I don't mind. I mean ****, the next movie is going to have a massive fight, a giant robot, and a hollow earth. I'm not looking for these movies to have a "grounded sense of realism".

I'm finally hyped for this movie, haven't cared for the monsterverse at all since I absolutely hated Godzilla 2014, which was supposed to be a "realistic" take on Godzilla, but it was just a boring mess, I had free tickets to watch it a second time and passed. Shin Godzilla being amazing only solidified my dislike of 2014. Because of that I didn't care to watch the sequel.
I was also mad that the prequel to Jackson's Kong, with Skull Island was scrapped in favor of making Kong movie that could eventually crossover with Godzilla. Still bitter about that but I mean I'm glad that they decided to go all out with kaiju and a new Kong v Godzilla fight is also amazing that it's happening. I will be doing a re-watch of 2014 and watching Kong/KOTM for the first time to be ready for Kong v Godzilla. |
