Double Post for Important News

If all the Xbox owners haven't heard yet, there is a problem with Xbox's made before a certain date that have had their power cords catch fire. Microsoft is recalling a whole bunch of Xbox's from stores, as well as offering free replacement cables to anyone who's console might need it. Simply go to Xbox.com and click the link on the right hand side of the page. It will prompt you to "Place an Order". It will then ask you to submit your Xbox serial # as well as your consoles manufacturing date, both can be found at the bottom of your Xbox near the back. Once submitted the site will tell you if you need replacement cords, if you do it's advised that you enter your information to recieve a free replacement cord in the mail. I strongly advise all Xbox owners to do this, as it is a saftey issue and it has apparently become rather rampant over the last month.

Thanks for the info, I'm on my third x-box, so i'm not sure where the date falls but i'll check. Just so you know one was an original w/ the drive problems and the other one was damaged in a fire caused by my roommate.

Yeah that's some crazy ****, all of sudden catching on fire for no reason. Yeah they said anything made before October 2003. Sad to see people's housing burning down but they must get one heck of a cash settlement.

In related news, Sony's new slogan is "Playstation2-Live in your world, Play in ours ...where game consoles don't reduce your home and loved ones to ashes."

Yeah, I've been wondering myself why Nintendo seems to be the only company who can make a console that doesn't blow up.

Self reliance and internal engineers who pay close attention to hardware design and are meticulious in the decision they make regarding the various pieces that make the overall structure of a console based machine.

In other words, they hire smart people to make their own parts that don't blow up.

The reason behind this was some faulty manufacturing in the machinery that built the power cords. It has little to do with the Xbox itself.

Machines make these products, not humans. If humans made them, it would take forever. Faulty machinery. Can't blame a company for that.

True that.

On a better note, Official Xbox Magazine has released a demo disc with their newest issue that tops any demo disc ever. On it are demo's of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Unreal Championship 2, and Conker: Live and Reloaded. If just being able to play those games wasn't enough...they're LIVE ENABLED! So go buy this f*cking issue unless you want to die a thousand horrible deaths!

Edit: Apparently Penny-Arcade was incorrect, I just got the demo disc, Splinter Cell and Conker aren't Live enabled.

It's the March issue.

And the cords have only been acting up as of the last couple weeks I've heard. After a certain amount of time they go bang or something.
