R.I.P. Chris Cornell

https://www.yahoo.com/music/represen...073215382.html

Totally gutted to learn about his death. He was one of my all-time favorite musicians, and Soundgarden is one of my all-time favorite bands. As a 90s teenager, they were definitely one of the highlights of my life during that time. He died yesterday and I'm only finding out to day. Well Happy F*cking Birthday to me.

Rock In Peace, man.

Seen Audioslave at lollapalooza in 2003. And Spoonman by Soundgarden is one of my favorite songs. Sad news indeed. We have so many memories attached to music that the loss of an artist is felt deep.

He actually was. Rage Against the Machine is another one of my all-time favorites. So it's cool that he hooked up with those guys, albeit sans Zack de la Rocha.

And his death was confirmed to be a suicide. Dammit, man.

So tragic to hear of this. I never was into the band or anything, but it's sad to hear that someone else died due to suicide. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

Singer of perhaps the greatest Bond theme there is, and I was just watching that flick all the way through for the first time in years just a couple days ago; as for his work with Soundgarden & Audioslave, I can't remember which hits from them I might've heard growing up, will have to look back at their hits and see if anything rings a bell. So terrible to hear this happen, when a person departs naturally & at old or somewhat-old age, that's positive enough, but not this, just hope he's at peace now in heaven. RIP Chris Cornell.

This was just shocking to hear. Whether it was Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, Audioslave, or his solo music, I always really enjoyed his voice and the passion behind it. Out of the grunge bands, I always preferred Soundgarden and Pearl Jam to all others. I also recently listened to his Casino Royale James Bond song and it is in my top three, at worst, of all the Bond themes. Very sad to hear of his passing and in this sudden way.

Earlier tonight, they showed a vintage Saturday Night Live episode that aired on May 18, 1996. It's the one where Jim Carrey hosted and Soundgarden was the musical guest. I caught the performance from Soundgarden where they played "Burden in My Hand". I forgot that they played that song. I remember seeing this the first time it aired, and they also played "Pretty Noose". That was seriously one of the episodes from the good old days.

Coincidentally, that episode premiered on the same date in 1996 where the news of Chris Cornell's death got out this year.

i still can't believe he's gone!
Soundgarden was one of my favorite bands.

if i ever had a day i needed to forget about, i'd just put this track on auto-repeat and zone out.

seeing that episode of SNL with Soundgarden and Jim Carey hosting was amazing!
one of my favorite comedians and favorite bands, it was like i'd won the Lottery!
i'll never understand why they edited out "Pretty Noose"? that was such a great song.

most of Chris Cornell's solo music was very bittersweet and sorrowful.

this one really resonates now.
