Most people seem to simply razz on them because #3 left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. And that's mostly because of disappointment over Venom and Harry-Goblin. Do I even need to bring up Lizard or Electro?! Poor choices made on both. And as much as I feel a bit face-palm-y at Toby in #3, Garfield is just too "pretty" (and was already a bit confrontational even BEFORE the spider, which is SOO OOC for that point in the movie) to be a convincing nerd. Sally Fields made a good aunt May though, surprisingly.

Also- Willem Dafoe really SOLD GG. Having read through most of Gobby's history (Which includes once having abducted Flash and gotten him totally sloshed on whiskey before putting him behind the wheel of a semi rig and watching him crash it into the school Peter was teaching at- as a poke at Peter, of course. Also, banging Gwen Stacy while his son was unconscious after a drug overdose- and swiping her twin children from the "affair" to raise in secret in France) he was so convincing as Psycho-borne, er, Osborne that anyone else would just seem dull in comparison.
I disagree with pretty much everything you just said there except the bit about Willem Dafoe and Electro. The Lizard was spot on except for needing more of a snout and as for Garfield being "too pretty" well Peter Parker has mostly been a physical specimen in both physique and facial structure. I actually think a great actor to portray him in the next film would be Emile Hirsch. There are versions of Peter that revolve around the Civil War that look a lot like him. But all in all I liked the Amazing Spider-man movies much more.

According to the leaks, this is what Sony were thinking of doing, and possibly may still be willing to do. There are also rumors Marvel are also going to reboot Spidey to be an older character following the Secret Wars comics event by undoing OMD and giving him a family so there would be synergy with that approach

I'm over the moon about this. Spidey is my favourite Marvel character.

Hopefully they'll keep Andrew Garfield and not do another origin story. Plus seeing how he

You really need to spoiler that? That story is older than the internet (and probably all of us here)

Spiderman is my least favorite character, and seeing how he's currently been the star of some very bad movies, I'm probably the only geek in existence who is not thrilled with this news.

I really didn't want him in Civil War, and yes, I know he was in the comics. MCU isn't the comics. Well, we shall see...

I don't know why people are so high on him being in Civil War. Him publicly unmasking was the least in-character thing he's ever done, and it led to the worst story he's ever had. Some people simply have no real understanding or value for this character so long as they get a "nifty premise" at the expense of consistency, and that extends just as much to the fans at times as it does the writers

Bring back Toby as an older spidy. No need to reboot, no need for an origins. Then all we need is Hugh as Wolverine and cancel the Gambit movie or cast Josh Holloway from Lost as Gambit

UPDATE: While separate reports confirm that Andrew Garfield is definitely OUT as Peter Parker (in case that wasn't clear in the annoucement), Deadline reports that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach "will become exec producers going forward." What do you think?

Is it just me or does Garfield sound like he has a speaking condition or something? It really hurt his performance.

So no spinoff films? No Amazing Spider-Man 3? No Andrew Garfield? New continuity intertwined with the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Just looking for all clarifications here.
