Kojima AND Guillermo del Toro, to boot.

Would've been amazing. Too bad.

It didn't fall apart... There are news articles about updates as active as 12 hours old.

"Death Stranding" is the title.

Is it still the same game Silent Hills would've been, though? I confess, I haven't been following it that closely.

Metal Gear 1.5? Or Metal Gear 2.5?
Sequel for the NES Metal Gear made without Kojima participation.
Considered non-canon, though, some ideas from it intentionally or not, ended up in "canon" games.

'Hate Speech' thread meets Metal Gear players. This is better than the Sonic Thread.

Stay awesome, you guys.

I bet some Metal Gear players will find a DEEP meaning in this.

Rising was mediocre, IMO.
Wasn't fun of gameplay and the game felt very short and its second half looked ugly and felt very rushed.

Loved it. Not at all like "classic" MGS but it felt just right for a Raiden-centric spin-off. Although I would have loved to have seen the original storyline they had planned, showing what happened to Raiden between MGS 2 and 4.

Furthermore, MGS was internally known as "Metal Gear 3" very early in the development, but they figured people would be dissuaded from playing it if they'd never played MG 1 or 2. Also, the jump from 2D sprites to 3D polygons gave them the loose idea for the "Solid" name, in lieu of calling it "Part 3" of anything.
What about stuff like (the recent) Double Dragon 4? Surely there could be a Metal Gear 3 done in similarly retro fashion. Some side story.

Some parts of it has been salvaged for the Phantom Pain, like resurrected Volgin, who has been planned for the original MGR.

I doubt there'd be any interest. MG 1 & 2 are already the "black sheep" of the series when taken as a whole, and further, "nothing happened" in the time period between MG2 and MGS1. Any side story they come up with wouldn't be very satisfying, because all the story and characters would have to fit in between other games without actually contributing anything significant, on account of those things never being mentioned again in MGS 1, 2, or 4.

We've already seen a little bit of this with some of the prequel games, such as Phantom Pain. Lots of the events and even the main villain have been described by some players as being very unsatisfying because they ultimately added very little of consequence to the story. It "had" to be that way, since we've never heard of those characters or events ever again in the timeline, so their overall impact was lacking, on account of how they had to be "Qui-Gon Jinn'ed". Great game, but the story suffers from being squeezed in between other, "more important" events. Any game set between MG2 and MGS1 would have the exact same problem, leaving me to question what the point would be, aside from "Retro for Retro's Sake".

Fans don't want another 8-bit inspired, top-down Metal Gear; they wanted a 3D HD remake of MG1 & 2. Like, I don't talk to every fan, obviously, but MG fans are never quiet about what they want.

Metal Gear Survive is, allegedly, not good. So I don't want anyone else playing in Kojima's sandbox. Metal Gear is his thing; without him, they can technically do whatever since they own it but it's absolutely not "Metal Gear."

I was not aware of that. This makes slightly more sense. Either way, huh, 'magine that.
