I think that is subtle markings he got on his head, similar to real life turtles like Sliders

Ugh. I can't get over how horrible this looks. SO disappointed you approved this, Nickelodeon!

God awful design choices aside gameplay doesn't even look good. Looks like a generic beat'em up. PS2 era at best and we've had plenty of bad 3D TMNT beat'em ups. I really don't see how "It's different" is a valid counter argument to those of us who think it looks like ass. A lot of things are different that doesn't in any way make them good. They seriously can't tell me they couldn't come up with something better. Whoever designed this clearly had their own vision in mind for the turtles and it's not at all in line with what most of us fans have. Since the target audience should be fans of the children's show and it looks nothing like it I can only assume they're going for the TMNT/comic fan crowd and I can tell you that most non-fans who delve into TMNT comics casually will scoff at these designs as well. I seriously hope these aren't considerations for the new film, though if they are I won't be all too surprised. Nothing else about the film has been good so far why start now?

From the tiny little sliver of information I got from that trailer, I was hoping for something a little more...ambitious? Naive of me I 'spose.

I came back hoping I would somehow like the designs this time around, but nope.
I'm still getting the game though. |

It has the same feel to it as that horrible 2007 movie tmnt game.
Just have to hope it turns out better than that game. |

Yeah that's it. Although I will say that the New game turtles look better than their rejected pilot counterparts.
Aside from the wierd nostrils I like that they look like turtles.

This just has to be a tie-in to the new movie. I just cannot get into the designs.

I like the designs, I think they look like the voice actors from the nick show.

To me, I think they're basing the game off of the idw comic, if you look closely, you'll notice they have 2 toes, true the art and story match with the tmnt tv show (as in foot stealing from kraang) but this seems a little dark for the tv show, and the kids will have nightmares abot the foot killing the turtles, and so on and so forth

So you would enjoy live-action Mario?

I don't see the reason for the comparison, really. Mario's roots have always been in a less threatening, more cartoony environment, even as far back as Donkey Kong. I'd say that's a heck of a lot different than TMNT's roots, which was a gritty, dark, and violent environment.
The TMNT look ugly here, but I don't see that as a bad thing. They're still recognizable, and they're only ugly because, guess what, they're monsters! I think everyone's too used to seeing them in a way that represents them as more cute and approachable, but the fact of the matter is that they're giant mutant turtles. These designs are just sticking closer to what they'd look like if they were real, even moreso than any of the live-action movies of the past did. In-universe, what are usually people's reactions to seeing the Turtles for the first time? Screaming in terror seems to be pretty common. I honestly think most of you are being too harsh, and while I certainly have nothing against more cartoony looking Turtles, I actually think it's pretty awesome that someone finally made a better attempt at making them look like what they'd likely look like if they were real. If their looks are apprehensive to you, that's only because they're supposed to. It's not like we're talking about Mickey Mouse here. These aren't squash-n-stretch toons, they're mutated freaks that live in a world mostly grounded in reality (but with a lot of sci-fi elements, of course). I'm sorry most of you feel so negatively about how they look, but ya know what? You can just skip out on this game, if you'd like. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until they make another TMNT game that has more digestible, cartoony designs. Personally, what I'm going to judge more on this game, after having seen the direction they're going in, is what the humans look like. If the humans look real, then I'm sold. Granted, I can't speak for the gameplay, as it's still too early to know what that'll be like, but I do enjoy beat 'em ups, so I have my hopes.

Looks like a pretty formulaic, receptive beat em up. I wish these game companies would realize that although the original TMNT NES and arcade games were absolutely fantastic, it's not 1989 anymore and it's be nice to get a different kind of TMNT game. Holding out hope for a LEGO game, actually.

I would like to point out this is a DOWNLOADABLE game, this isn't "activisions big release". I personally like the art direction. There can neverbe too many versions of the TMNT
