A second chance for Venus de Milo?

I like Venus and seriously think she got all the hate that's associated with TNM by association insted of being just because she's a bad character, put her on the hands of someone who knows WTH it's doing and you can get something really good, put her on the hands of IDW and you'll see how to make her interesting, she could work as a member of the Pantheon for example, and she could even retain all her mysthic powers as well.

Personally to me part of what makes Turtles so interesting and at times kind of bitter sweet and tragic is the fact they are the only four of their "species" (like Sons of the Silent Age).

I certainly would never mind more interesting female characters but I feel like it would be better for the franchise personally if it wasn't a female turtle and especially if she wasn't the guys sister.

I'm not even touching on what an ABSOLUTE mess the character was on TNM, that could be fixed. I just feel like over all it would distract from the plot to add her versus her not returning.

Considering how many characters the IDW comic series as well as the Nick one have brought back I'm surprised they haven't attempted to remake her for their versions.

I can remake her with a K-Pop & J-Pop vibe. Using Kitana-style fans can suit her. But she can also gain ninja magic from various sorcerers all over Asia.

She can also be an adopted turtle taken into the family after her master died by the Dragon Lord.

The Battle Nexus Tournament could come back with her part of it.

Personally I'd give her new weapons that were a bit more original.

While I respect everyone's right to their own personal taste/vision, personally... I'm so tired of "girl's weapon is... magic powers," or if there is some Asian influence to something... fans. It's been done so much over time in different media, not just TMNT. I mean dammit, Nick April even went and did BOTH.

Not that fans with blades or a razor sharp edge aren't cool, they are, but at some point it starts to seem limited on what a girl "can" have. Magic... MEH. Clearly to keep a female character away from the action and participating in a 'ladylike' manner.

It would be funny yet bizzare (and make alot of fans mad) if Venus came out of nowhere in season 5 of Nick toon. Can you imagine Shinigami getting mutagen on her and suddenly, poof!

On the other hand, I was scared in season 2 when Karai was getting mutated. Out of dread, I didn't notice there was snake mutagen In the DNA, and when Karai fell, I thought the show was about to jump the shark in all directions.

Heck, I thought even April was going to turn into Venus for a minute when she fell into the vat of mutagen (I think one of the guys touched her just before she fell in?) ... until we found out she was immune.

As for alternate weapons, what about a pair of kamas? Or tonfas? Something a bit different from the guys. I could see her as an archer. Or maybe a blowgun. Or using the "steel-cloak" or metal ribbons seen in some anime.

I don't like Venus, but if I had to give her weapons, I think it would be interesting to see her fighting bare fisted as opposed to the weapon heavy fighting style of the turtles.

The Next Mutation and Image short-lived runs are the opposite ends of horrible IMHO that I do not want either to ever touch the franchise again. I ignore the very existence of both incarnations as much as possible and deem them failures that contirbuted largely to the 4 and a half year dark period between Next Mutation's end and the toy line for the 2003 cartoon debuting on shelves. Venus embodies the Next Mutation end and I felt the concept of a female turtle takes away their uniqueness especially if they are not biologically siblings. Raphael dating Mona Lisa, a salamander which is fine. Other turtles in particular Slash as the Bizarro character of the franchise? Sure. Kerma as an alien race of turtle-like beings? Its not a mutated turtle race even if similar so,sure.

Yeah, I don't get the "war fans are for girls" mentality. Or maybe it's a herd idea whenever someone tries to reinvent Venus, but she often ends it having fans as weapons.

Which is kinda funny since war fans have not been a "girl's weapon", the famous fan users are all men and it was a sidearm that was less suspicious then a knife if you had to take of your swords in a diplomacy situation. I guess it's from western idea that a mere fan can't be a weapon therefore girls can have it as a weapon of deception they can use to lure men into their doom.

Should Venus have a proper lady dominated weapon, she should have a nnaginata which historically was favored by female warriors and the elite practitioners of naginatajutsu are women today.

And this is why I believe mei peh chi is salvageable as something like a member of the turtle-like aliens, or as a turtle like dragon.

I guess she could work but they gotta rework a LOT of things about her:

1. The blue bandana needs to go away. I don't want another Leo wannabe. Maybe she could work with dark yellow, pink (ugh? maybe not), or white bandana.

2. Them boobs on her TURTLE chest. What's that for, titties for milking? Get rid of those pointless things on her.

3. Her fan weapon should be upgraded, maybe like Kitana's metal fans?

4. No magic power b.s. for her. Just grounded and normal ninja arts.

5. Don't share origin with the turtles, be somewhere else. The boys don't need to shag their own sister.

To this day, I still don't get why they changed Leo's bandana in the intro to yellow but retain his blue color in the show. Why not give yellow to Venus instead of having two blue bandanas?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but IMDB states they wanted to change it for one of two reasons. Either action figures or the blue screen's color keys.

Don's mask was apparently going to be black and Venus was to have pink.

I may be wrong here though.

You know what I wish IDW would have done just to make the haters explode? Give her the yellow bandana Leo wore in TNM, ditcvh the shell boobs, have her keep her magic powers, and make her the turtle member of the pantheon. That'd make her not a mutant, and make her unique from the turtles!
