Massive #50 spoiler poll

Normally I wouldn't put a spoiler warning on something that's a month old but this is a big one. Is shredder coming back?

He made a direct promise to Kitsune that he would "find his way back to her" in some shape or form. Willing to bet that means he won't stay dead forever.

But since his death was actually pretty well done, and the TMNT and their friends don't have any shortage of new or outstanding threats to deal with, I'm hoping the writers won't be in any hurry to bring him back. And even when they do, maybe he won't be right back to trying to exterminate the Hamato clan, again.

In the latest interview Tom Waltz was asked is Oroku Saki definitely gone forever. I would have to listen the interview again to quote his exact words, but his answer was:
Spoiler:
"It's a comic, man" and something about Shredder is always looming around, and you never know when he is going to strike.

If you are interested to hear the interview here is the link

The interview starts around 42:30.

85% sure he will. But IDW respects the characters and plots they're working with...

I'd be a little surprised if Saki never came back, but I'd also be perfectly content with it. Either way this plays out, I'm on board.

EDITED TO ADD: Uh, I think your "No, he's not really dead" option is invalid. We ALL saw that decapitation, man.

I would prefer he never came back. How much more impact would it give to the scenes in #50. But i realize that he will probably come back some time down the road.

The only thing i would be disappointed by is if he went right back to the same old shredder. If you bring him back make him an anti hero or at least not working directly against the Hamato clan.

THIS! Hopefully the beef with the Hamato's will be said and done with and Shredder can focus on actually conquering more than just New York. The feud was really holding him back and I hope he has realized this.

I think he is not really dead tho...

He supposted to be unkillable, but it turns out he isn't. Or is he? Well, he got his head removed from his body, so he can't breath, can't move, can't think, but otherwise his body probably won't start to rot thanks to the Ooze.
So all he needs is probably just some needlework.

If IDW ever wants to bring him back, it will be extremely easy.

He's likely to come back as a God similar to Kitsune and The Rat King. That was the whole point.

We all know he's gonna come back. Casuals love Shredder & bitch when he's gone for too long.

The best thing IDW could ever do is keep him dead. The way he went out in #50, literally the greatest moment in the entire series. That's ninja turtling.

People tend to forget that in comics, characters don't stay dead, they always find a way to bring them back.

The poll in this thread suggests quite the opposite.

There will be a successor, but only a temporary one. Splinter is his current successor and maybe the female rebel within the clan later if Shredder does not return to reclaim his place before she takes the opposition first.

I think it's inevitable that he'll be back, I just hope he stays gone for 3 or 4 years. But if he's not back in time for #100 I'll be damn surprised.

I think it would be cool if he came back in time for the end of the Pantheon story... and having realized how much Kitsune manipulated him over the centuries, sided with the turtles against her. Finish up the redemption arc hinted at in #50. That's a Shredder story we haven't seen done before.

I was thinking the same thing. The City At War and Pantheon plots would merge and Shredder's return would be the result of the climax. Only it would happen #75-#80. First we have to deal with Bishop and company to tie up Mike's story and see how Splinter's leadership ends in Pimko setting up CAW challenging Splinter and how Darius and Null tie into the storyline. It seems Harold would tie in with Null.

i think 3 or 4 years would be too long?

I think the Shredder micro has some insight.

Spoiler:
He has to fight himself and his army over and over again. What if he just gets stronger and stronger and comes back as a demon with his undead army?

I'd like to think that the cycle introduced in the micro would change based on his slight change of heart at the end of #50. It's been a while since i've read that micro so maybe i'm not remembering everything that was said.

He'll be back, no doubt in my mind there. I agree with Myconius, I'd also like to see IDW's take on the worms, I think it could be very interesting but I hope they let him rot awhile first.
